Have You Had Flowers Bought This Year ?

It is great to have someone remember you by sending a bouquet of flowers. Just imagine a delivery man knocking at the door with a grin and saying 'These are for you.'

That would be a good treat on a dull January day. It would be more preferable than a visit from the meter reader.

I was cleaning my windows or rather removing the steam after leaving a pan on too long, when I saw the stranger walking down my garden path carrying something! I hurried to the door in anticipation and when I saw the most beautiful bouquet of flowers I was so happy.

'Sorry to trouble you,the folk next door are out, would you take them in please?'

I hope the disappointment on my face wasn't too obvious.Do you feel happy when you get flowers,or send or buy flowers for others ?

I do like getting flowers but I don't get them that often.

I haven't bought or received any flowers this year. Personally I dislike receiving flowers, but I like to send them to my mother as she loves them emoticon

Oh no! I haven't had flowers bought for me for nearly a year but it would make a lovely surprise!

VinceSummers wrote on January 17, 2015, 5:07 PM

I'm the kind of guy who thinks living, potted, blooming plants are much preferable to cut, dying flowers. It's just me.

maxeen wrote on January 17, 2015, 5:18 PM

Oh dear, all those beautiful flower shops going bump if we were all like that..I love geraniums and the more I cut some away the quicker the plant recreates, same with lavender bushes.

Can't be helped ,I shan't jump to conclusions in the future. Depending on the flowers sometimes I coax them to regrow.

I've only been sent flowers once in my life, in 1975. It was a Valentine's bouquet, unfortunately from an undesirable lad at the swimming club. I doubt I'll ever get another bouquet now.

Poor you! But who would that be that you were expecting flowers from - is your husband listening emoticon

Flowers are very cheery to have in the house. Currently a house guest of mine came back from the store with a bouquet for me. A lovely surprise!

I love that when it is spontaneous.

I feel very happy when I present flowers to others on the special occasions of their life. Quite interesting title you've made.

maxeen wrote on January 20, 2015, 1:00 PM

That is a nice way to look at it ,pleased you liked the title.

johnnydod wrote on January 20, 2015, 1:34 PM

Well as a man I have never had any flowers given to me,

maxeen wrote on January 20, 2015, 1:45 PM

I am so pleased that I am a She so can ,if lucky, have some gorgeous flowers once in a while...I bet you send them though !

Ruby3881 wrote on January 20, 2015, 5:28 PM

To be very honest, I'm not terribly big on cut flowers. My mother makes lovely bouquets from her garden, which I enjoy a great deal more than any commercial bouquet. But I always prefer to give or receive a potted plant, or something more practical, instead of flowers.

AliCanary wrote on January 20, 2015, 5:29 PM

Oh, goodness, I bet that WAS disappointing! I have sent flowers and I do enjoy receiving them. It's awfully expensive these days, though. :(

AliCanary wrote on January 20, 2015, 5:30 PM

Some women do send flowers to men, though. I have had them sent to my dad, my husband, and to a friend of mine who had received a job promotion. I think men enjoy getting flowers, since it is thoughtful.

PegCole17 wrote on January 21, 2015, 12:22 PM

Oh, that's too bad they weren't for you. Perhaps your darling hubby will read this and realize what's missing. I have so many vases from past floral gifts that now he just pops into the grocery store and picks up a fresh bouquet. It's always a pleasure to receive flowers.

maxeen wrote on January 21, 2015, 12:57 PM

I think so ! I am sure I remember male celebs on stage being handed nice floweres, part of our super nature and the outdoors..

maxeen wrote on January 21, 2015, 1:00 PM

I would be pleased to accept any kind of flower or plant ,nice to have Mum do them though.

maxeen wrote on January 21, 2015, 1:02 PM

I hope he didn't see the face I pulled, always gives me away..

maxeen wrote on January 21, 2015, 1:10 PM

The problem is when there are so many mutts around things get knocked over but I do like a few flowers around the house,it is special to have them as a gift rather than buy for oneself.

BodieMor wrote on January 22, 2015, 5:53 PM

My husband occasionally brings me posies of spring blossoms, which I love, but otherwise I prefer fresh cut garden flowers, usually far more fragrant. And I enjoy creating lush bouquets for friends, as well.

maxeen wrote on January 22, 2015, 7:25 PM

Sounds delicious ,lovely and fresh from the garden..

scheng1 wrote on January 24, 2015, 8:59 AM

We buy flowers for worship purpose only. That means twice a month.

arthurchappell wrote on January 26, 2015, 4:21 PM

relatively rare for me to give flowers - though with Valentine's Day so close there should be some excuse

maxeen wrote on January 26, 2015, 8:34 PM

Do you have to stick to those rules though?

maxeen wrote on January 26, 2015, 8:35 PM

Haha! Is the cat out of the bag ?

FreyaYuki wrote on January 29, 2015, 4:32 PM

emoticon  Sorry that it turned out the flowers weren't for you. It is nice to receive flowers that were bought especially for you.

LilyDay wrote on January 29, 2015, 4:41 PM

No one sends me flowers. My boyfriend hand delivers them instead... usually when he has done something to really upset me, of course. He knows that flowers and really good chocolates (more the latter than the former) will get him out of trouble. If there were a bigger budget, I would expand the list to shiny objects as well; alas, conflict-free diamonds are way out of the budget here.
