Do You Ever Listen to Music While Writing At Persona Paper?

I mean to ask since as long as I've been on Persona Paper since day one, I would be listening to music as well. The music is always different. Yesterday, Jay-z was spitting rhymes, the other day it was Phil Anselmo with his angst-ridden lyrics, and now Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are singing about 'Home'.

Anyway, I do have moments when I write in silence. I even have my headphones on but it is unplugged but more often than not, I would have some sort of background music playing. I don't see music as a distraction while I write but rather I see it as my inspiration... my muse. I consider it my own personal soundtrack as I go about doing my tasks. Sometimes, the prep time selecting songs to listen to takes awhile but I know the time spent is well worth it. I listen to my iPod... I listen online... Sometimes, I leave the telly on my favorite music channel and I just let the tv be my own personal dj.

Right now, I'm listening to local band Us-2 Evil-0 sing about a mighty heart attack... so my fellow PPers, do you listen to music while writing at Persona Paper? What sort of music do you listen to? Feel free to chime in friends.

Cheers!!!

I am a multi tasker and hence need to keep my eyes and ears open to see what is going on around me and so no music while I am here.

Completely understand your point grandma20121 . Other people do see music as a distraction. To each his own!!!

Can't count 'listening to music' as another task bestwriter ?

Oh no! How can I hear what is going on around me if I have earphones glued? emoticon

Yes I do listen to music whenever I write. This past week, I have been listening to Beatles music and I can't seem to have enough of the Fab 4!

Point taken bestwriter .

You really can't go wrong with listening to the music of The Beatles MommyCharm .

I always have either music or a show on. If the book I am reading requires particular music, I might put together an appropriate playlist, but otherwise I am always looking for new music on spotify while reading and writing. When I am not listening to music I put on my favorite shows, Dr. Who, Sherlock Holmes/Sherlock, Miss Marple, Poirot, or very rarely a movie or a show I haven't seen yet. Right now I am listening to music by Juan Arriaga, because the lead character in the book I am reading is listening to that composer's music.

I virtually always have music playing when I write. I find it to be motivating. I have a subscription to Rhapsody and I use it everyday!

music or TV is my background does not bother me unless the movie is really interesting like now I am watching Pope Francis so I spend more time watching than writing :)

Yes, I listen to music. More often though I am watching something on TV.

I need to hook my system back up, I needed the subwoofers and amps and mixing board last weekend to supply sound at a wedding reception and haven't got around to hooking everything back up.

allen0187 I have not see a new post from you in a long time. Nice to see you (read you) again. I don't listen to music, I prefer a quiet atmosphere, but from time to time I go to YouTube and take a break by listening to a couple of tunes.

I find music (and any extraneous noises, in fact) as most annoying when I am trying to concentrate. I prefer silence.

BarbRad wrote on January 17, 2015, 10:39 PM

I prefer to work in silence most of the time if I'm writing. I can't write if anything with words is playing, but if I'm tired I will sometimes play Mozart

FourWalls wrote on January 18, 2015, 2:16 PM

I listen all the time. I have my iPod playing usually, if I'm writing while at lunch, or iTunes or a CD playing when I'm home. One thing I don't have is a "listen while I write" playlist. I just listen to whatever is playing at the moment.

I listen to everything from Bach and Mozart to Deadmau5. Many moods, much music!

A true writer stays away from all noise in order to concentrate on a project such as myself. However, I can do anything else and love to have the sound of music.

Same here -- sometimes I do and sometime I don't. It defends on the situation, sometimes I need inspiration and to just lighten up a bit of my emotions or just to get ideas from them... hehehe but sometimes I don't -- no reason I just want to type quietly. God bless.
