Things That Are Annoyingly Dangerous.

Inspired after reading a comment from WordChazer ,

Often I am walking through a door and am pulled violently back. Not by a person ,or even a living thing.

There is a possibility that a person is to blame and that would be the one/s who invented the stupid door handle, in some places.

I am someone who wears lots of arm stuff, like jangly hippy style bangles and bracelets, these adornments continually get caught on the door handles.

Maybe I should just stop wearing them, I can't , I wont give in.

Another thing which is annoying is the way the jangly things get caught in sweaters and fine blouses, I haven't even mentioned dog claws and worse cat claws- do you have problems like this ? {This post was inspired by another post ? Sorry I cannot remember ,tell me!}

Since I do not wear such items it is not a problem to me. However, I have known some doors to have so strong a spring that they can snap shut quite violently and certainly qualify as dangerous.

That's one of the reasons why I don't wear bracelets. However, I don't mind my dog claws on my jeans :)

I know of a case were a man was trying to reach an object on an elevated shelf at one of those home-repair stores. He grabbed what he wanted and jumped down, but his wedding ring caught on a bolt. His finger was pulled off. A hospital was near by, but when he gave them the finger, they clipped it off, treated it, and sent him home. The blood vessels were stretched and the finger could thus not be reattached. Jewelry is dangerous. It's good to take it very seriously.

I used to once upon a time but not any more. Today the less obstructions there are better for me. Imagine for example sitting here and writing this post and my bangles, chain and stuff hitting the keys and being responsible for countless typo. No thank you.

I am not wearing any kind of bracelets so i think i cannot relate that much in this article.

I find bag and camera straps tend to hook on door handles on me - nearly garotted myself through that a few times

AliCanary wrote on January 16, 2015, 10:19 AM

I don't even wear jangly things, but those door handles like to grab the pockets of my cardigans. Ya can't win!

AliCanary wrote on January 16, 2015, 10:21 AM

Blood vessels...stretched? They cannot be trimmed? This sounds odd. Are you sure this actually happened?

VinceSummers wrote on January 16, 2015, 10:32 AM

Take a rubber band and stretch it. Only blood vessels are made of material that is not designed to stretch and bounce back. The hole for blood to flow through is now too thin. You see, the finger was pulled off, but the bone was still attached to the man's hand. They took a snips and cut off the bone at the hand and tossed the finger soft-tissue.

T-shirt sleeves and doorhandles are designed to annoy me.

WordChazer wrote on January 16, 2015, 1:13 PM

The post where we were discussing this originally was 'Tight Collars on Kittens' from a couple of days ago, wasn't it?

zabelle51 wrote on January 16, 2015, 1:18 PM

Yes my bracelets get caught on the lining of my coat and the insides of my sweater, your right it is annoying and sometimes dangerous. :)

GedWrites wrote on January 16, 2015, 1:45 PM

It normally happens to me when wearing a bag on my back .. open the door, it hooks onto the handle, my legs go up in the air my upper body stays where the handle is and I fall on my backside. emoticon

Well sometimes they can be good earners ! That happened to me a few years back. I was paid £1,600. I was entering an antique auction when BANG ..cracked finger bone..

maxeen wrote on January 16, 2015, 3:04 PM

maxeen wrote on January 16, 2015, 3:11 PM

This is getting weird! Two comments familiar to me !
My Mother had seasonal students staying with us ,I met them as they were driving their huge wagon up the hill. As they turned the corner I banged hard on the back of the wagon and my wedding ring got caught on something,I was lucky as I managed to pull away.Just imagine ....

maxeen wrote on January 16, 2015, 3:15 PM

I think I was lucky..

maxeen wrote on January 16, 2015, 3:31 PM

BarbRad wrote on January 16, 2015, 11:24 PM

I have no problem with arm jewelry because i don't wear jewelry since I have my wedding rings cut off. They used to catch on the refrigerator door and on more than one occasion I came close to losing a finger.

maxeen wrote on January 17, 2015, 7:55 AM

That was serious stuff! Poor finger and poor ring also..

Bethany1202 wrote on January 17, 2015, 10:02 AM

Ever wear earrings and have long hair... and have them snag a bit? Not fun. Great post. ; )

maxeen wrote on January 17, 2015, 11:13 AM

I can imagine that ,I have never been able to wear earings, within a second I get a headache ,a very strange thing, isn't it ?

k2705 wrote on January 20, 2015, 4:00 PM

I generally done have a problem but I do get my dressing gown caught on door handles sometimes.

maxeen wrote on January 20, 2015, 4:09 PM

I would say that is annoying, hope it doesn't tear.

BodieMor wrote on January 22, 2015, 5:50 PM

Well, what do you know!!! I have never heard of the dangers of jewelry, nor experienced any, thank goodness. And a dear friend has for years decked herself out like a flamboyant gypsy, her neck, hands and wrists ringed with dozens of pieces. Seren3 and I have marveled over what this woman manages to carry around on her person, daily. I mean, so much jewelry has to be heavy! However, I never considered it a danger to her, even with bangles and bracelets reaching halfway to her elbows! It's a signature look for her, after all, lol!

scheng1 wrote on January 26, 2015, 9:03 AM

I used to wear knitted blouses. The blouses always get caught with something, and the thread comes out.

maxeen wrote on January 26, 2015, 9:09 AM

The worst one is when ones hair is caught in a chain, hard to take chain off with arm in the air.
