Swimming Lessons
Tonight is my daughter's first swimming lesson. We have been out and bought her a new swimming costume, goggles and towel and it is all packed away in her bag ready for this evening. She is very excited!
Last year during our holiday she gained more confidence in the water and on occasions going off on her own in the shallow water and trying her best but hopefully with some guiding lessons when we go on holiday this year she will be able to swim properly.
I remember as a child myself having swimming lessons clinging on to the edge for dear life and trying to kick my legs, learning how to put my full face in the water, making my first solo swim across the pool, now I love swimming and try to do 20 lengths every time I go!

I remember in junior school when all my friends were getting a 1 length swimming certificate and I could not swim. I never took lessons but did make a concerted effort whenever I went to the baths, which resulted in me getting my 10 length certificate the following year.

Aw well done you, once I learnt the basics and could swim a full length easily I stopped lessons

I love swimming and remember my first strokes unassisted across the pool and doing my length - happy days

I have never learned to swim but made sure my kids knew how. I feel like I lost out on some summer fun because of that.

& lucyluuk kids love water she will be enjoying those lessons. My little one devoted last summer to properly learn and now she is part of the local swimming team, which allows her to practice and meet her best friends. Not a bad deal.

I've never been very good at swimming, because the weakness in one leg has meant that, ever since I was a child, I tend to swim in circles! I love being in the water, though.

I used to swim competitively, I even considered becoming a swimming teacher. I used to get up at 5.30am and go training before school, then again in the evenings. I was never a medal winner though, that was my sibling, who was better/faster, but I still had to go and do all the training. Since I gave it up, I've hated swimming, so don't enjoy it at all. My sibling's still swimming, and is regularly a gold/silver medal winner in the Nationals. I hope your daughter has a good experience, it's great knowing you can swim well as you get older and have chance to swim in lakes or the sea on daytrips and holidays with friends and family.

I live in an island, and there are many swimming pools in my country, yet I hate to swim.

It is so important to learn to swim if you can . I go swimming sometimes but remember learning with the school lessons.
