Fox News biased reporting bludgeons Dish Network into accepting rate increases for news show

Dish Network was finally beaten into submission by Fox News and forced to accept higher rates by the news giant after a three week stand-off in which Fox was not available on Dish due to contract disputes.

Fox accused Dish of 'censoring' the network from its lineup, when actual facts show that Dish legally could not carry the Fox News channel after the previous contract expired, leaving Dish no choice but to eventually bow down to the demands by Fox for higher rates to carry their programming.

Fox News, of course, maintains they did no wrong, and still claim that they represent "fair and balanced reporting" of all stories, regardless of what other facts may exist regarding the bias they show towards many political stories covered by them.

So, the dumbing down of America will continue, sadly. For a few weeks there the collective IQ of the country was raised.

Speaking of "unbiased," do you think you could be just a tad bit less obvious with your disdain for Fox News? Personally, I don't like 'em so I don't watch 'em. As I don't watch them, I cannot comment on what they are (because I'd either be parroting something that someone else said and would therefore be as "faux" as I accused them of being, or I'd be a hypocrite for watching them [like saying I hate Taylor Swift then buy all her albums]). I know that ALL news stations have a degree of bias based on what they cover, what they DON'T cover (I mentioned in a reply somewhere else that the news media likes "glamorous" massacres like the one in Paris while ignoring things like Darfur), so what one believes from the various news outlets really depends more on the political beliefs of the viewer than the news channel.

Spoken like the true liberal. Why does Fox News bother you so much? Just don't tune in as I do and allow those who wish to. It's okay in your book that virtually every other news outlet is blatantly liberal? News channels who employ that voice of free America Al Sharpton?

SoundNFury wrote on January 16, 2015, 1:53 AM

Here we go. Yes, it's all a "liberal media conspiracy" blah blah blah. I'll humor you on this one. Fox News bothers me because uninformed people believe the crap they spew. It's obvious you want to argue just for the sake of arguing. So, I threw you that bone. Enjoy.

It's too easy to pick on Fox. Dish could have said no just as they have to so many other channels. Dish is notorious for not giving in to demands so it may be a case that they felt they needed Fox News and all the other Fox outlets. No gets upset when CBS or ABC?ESPN beats providers into submission. Only Fox because liberals hate it so much. Yeah, it's as worthless as other news outlets but why the outrage?

JohnRoberts wrote on January 16, 2015, 1:57 AM

No, I don't wish to argue. I am just of one channel being targeted. Does it bother you that uninformed people believe the crap spews on MSNBA, CNN etc by such mind giants as Al Sharpton and Chris Mathews? You are making me out to be the big arguer yet I am merely responding to your non-stop put downs which you are entitled to but you don't comment coming back at ya. I don't care what side you support. Just be fair and call out both sides.

SoundNFury wrote on January 16, 2015, 2:02 AM

The "both sides do it" argument is simply false. There is far more garbage, fear and anti-American sentiment coming from Fox and the political right than the "other" side. The funny thing is, they play it off like it is patriotic and they are the "truth." Everybody has their slant, but Fox is off the charts. You claim you don't like to argue, yet you're the one responding to my comment that was directed at this post, not towards you.

I just saw the article regarding this. Too bad they couldn't find another way rather than bull doze over Dish

TheLambLiesDown wrote on January 16, 2015, 6:09 AM

Why not be outraged? I saw too many people beating up Dish and giving the 'censorship' cry while this was going on, when it was not a case of 'censorship' at all, which is the point I am trying to make.

TheLambLiesDown wrote on January 16, 2015, 6:11 AM

Oh, I think I could be, but I am an opinionated s.o.b., and I decided to share that opinion.

TheLambLiesDown wrote on January 16, 2015, 6:13 AM

I saw someone comment on fb that they were glad Dish "finally pulled their head out of their a**"...it's like yeah, Fox can do no wrong according to some...

celticeagle wrote on January 16, 2015, 8:49 AM

I don't listen to Fox anyway. If I want news I go where there is some.

FourWalls wrote on January 16, 2015, 10:12 AM

This is so true. For the record, they did the same thing with Turner, the parent company of CNN, in the fall...and the agreement that got those channels back on the air is only "temporary," meaning it'll last until after the NBA season....I mean, spring.

CountryWine wrote on January 16, 2015, 10:29 AM

LOL People can be so ignorant. I like reading some of their articles but hate it when I come across the ones that are so biased.

JohnRoberts wrote on January 16, 2015, 10:48 AM

You are proof of it being impossible to speak to a liberal. You are right. It's pointless of me to even respond anymore. Sayanora.

I am of the "cut the cord" camp. We went from satellite to cable to antenna over the past few years, and I have no interest in going back.

I like Fox News. They're the least awful news network. I don't trust the media, but I distrust Fox the least.
