We are having a family gathering Saturday

I have 3 children, 10 grand-kids and a great grandson, we normally get together for holidays and birthdays. As the children have gotten older, they no longer want parties so the family gatherings have dwindled to an unacceptable level.

My oldest granddaughter Jeanna has her birthday in January but at 23 she no longer gets a party. My daughter has been craving my stuffed artichokes and beef cutlets so, this Saturday we are all meeting for lunch at my son Jason's house and we are having our family favorites. I am also making a pot of lentil soup as well as the artichokes. Steve my other son is bringing the mashed potatoes, my daughter Kasey is bringing dessert and we are going to have a gathering of the clan.

Jason will be frying up the beef cutlets. He is actually very good at it and since it is rather time consuming, I am glad he is doing it instead of me.

How many of the grands will actually be available is anyone's guess with jobs and other commitments.

It won't be too long of a gathering since Joshua has a hockey game at 3:30 p.m. That is okay with me though, Jason lives out in the woods and I would rather not be driving home from his house in the dark.

Do you get together with family for these types of gatherings that celebrate nothing but family?

The photo shows our December gathering with Christmas cookie making. I am not sure why it is lying on its side but there you have it.

It is always fun to get together with family. Even if it just for a bit. I find with my family some sort of food is always involved!

My family is too far away - but I would if I could!

It is good that you have this opportunity for a family gathering.

We don't have children, and most of our relatives are elsewhere.

I like the idea of family getting together and everybody contributing something towards the meal.

Yes it is basically a family potluck where we all bring a dish, it takes the work off just one person. :)

I'm sorry that your family is far away, I guess I am just lucky that so far my kids have decided to make their homes within 25 miles of us and each other. :)

It would work with a group of friends, as a matter of fact, that makes me want to organize one with my friends. :)

Every time we get together we say the same thing, we need to do this more often, so we are going to try to do it. :)

How wonderful your family sounds. My grand-kids range from 26 to 3 so we still have little ones around and only the one grand but my son may move to Florida so that will change everything. :)
