Loneliness

We normally think that the worst thing in life is to be left alone at stage of our lives. Yes, living alone is a torturous thing that can happen into our lives, as without people and friends one has nothing left in life and it plunges the lonesome into utter depths of depression.

But ever thought that there could be a situation which is even worse than being lonely? Well ponder over this statement by Robin Williams:

“The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone.”

To my reckoning, living among people who leave you to yourself and even in the presence of people around you, you are made to feel that you are alone is the worst thing that can happen to anyone - this is just like leaving one’s parents and old relatives to old houses and disappear forever.

That sure sounds bad. I know you can be alone but not lonely, or amidst people but lonely.

My very first time on the site and I see an old friend! Good to see you. Nice post. I rarely feel lonely though I am often alone.

it is unfilial to leave old folks in old folks home, that is chinese customs, so the oldest child will take care of the old folks. never feel lonely

Good to see you here Magnolia - rather it was refreshing to find a friend one so long to have. I am not feeling lonely anymore here.

Yes, exactly that is what my point is - people who helped us grow up and made us what we are today, should be cared and loved when they need us the most.

We all pass through this stage and I believe that we all do get by.

Strangely I am often happier alone than in company

Yes, that has happened to me on occasion where I will be in a group of people and feel really alone.
