It arrived today – too late for Christmas!

The snow that is.

We awoke this morning to a light covering of the fluffy white stuff here in the north of England. About an inch, which will probably have gone by tomorrow.

But you can’t let a bright and sunny morning go to waste even if it is a tad on the chilly side.

So as these images show I went for a fantastic walk through the nearby woods and round the lake this morning. Everywhere was so quiet beneath its white cloak, and the trees and bushes looked just magical all decked out in their snowy winter finery.

Fortunately I didn't have to be anywhere today so I could take my time and enjoy it. And coming home to a mug of hot chocolate worked wonders too.

Hope you all have a good day too.

Gorgeous! I thought we were going to get some snow here in the southern US last night, but it warms up more then we thought it would. A snowy walk, even a short one, would be such a nice treat.

Oh ´m so glad you took these pictures and posted them, they are wonderful to look at.

Herdwick Sheep, I love them! I used to adore going out photographing animals but - alas - I hate my camera so much (compared to the other one I used all the time) that I never feel inspired to use it anymore. Your pics have made me realise just what I've been missing!

Ah, Herdwicks, I didn't know. This flock has just recently appeared, and they do look rather cute.

Thanks. Well, I don't mind a little of the white stuff but I think that will do for now. And when it's freshly fallen a snowy walk just makes you feel so good.

Glad you like the pics. I'll try and keep them coming.

I love Herdwicks, they're sweet and fluffy. I have several Twitter contacts who are Herdy farmers and they post the most wonderful pictures.

Lovely pictures. We didn't get any snow, apart from a few brief flurries on Tuesday afternoon. Nothing settled. I woke to a bit of frost this morning and then we had bright sunshine.

Thanks, last time I looked it was raining so glad I caught the snow in pics.

They are beautiful pictures, we havent had any snow in the east where I am.

Thanks. I think that's it for now, back to wind and rain.

Thanks for the photos! Those are great! I wish I could see real snow. No chance that I will see snow here in Manila unless it is man made. Of course, it ain't the same thing as the real thing.

You're welcome. This morning it's all gone, it rained overnight, so may be a while until the next snowy scenes.

I love snow, but living in the southern US, sometimes it's several years before I see a good snow.

This was a good snow - here one day and gone the next!

NorthernLight Beautiful photographs. I don't care much for snow, but it is so lovely at which to look from the inside out! ;)

Thank you. Unfortunately we are looking at it again today, but just a thin covering.

Snowed overnight here, but just a thin covering. Tops of the hills look picturesque though.
