Fast but never furious

As part of my new attitude towards a healthier life style I have introduced Monday as a fasting day. Basically for the entirety of the day I don't eat and only drink black tea or water. Normally over the weekends I allow myself a little slack time in my new regime, I think it is important to give yourself a bit of leeway, most diets fail because they are too strict and demand to much of the person following them, remember this is everyday life not a prison camp. Lets face it, in first world countries, I doubt if there are many who could not go a day without eating and really notice the difference, between Sundays supper and Tuesdays breakfast, by the time you have taken out sleeping, it really isn't that long. And if you do feel a bit wobbly towards the end of the day a small bowl of soup will do the trick, hardly the biggest abuse of the rules. It seems to act as a wonderful detox for any weekend excesses and makes you really appreciate that breakfast the following day, plus think of the virtual zero in the calories column when stacked up against the rest of the week.

I'm not too sure I could pull this off. More power to you, my friend! Just before Christmas my wife made mention of a cleansing diet, which scared me a little. Thankfully, I haven't heard another word from her about it... yet.

I'd require a small amount of food now at some point in the day otherwise I'm more likely to fall over if I tried to fast for a day!
