A Playful Squirrel

I snapped this squirrel in a graveyard in Norfolk earlier this year. when we were on a weekend break. We didn't realise at first that there were dozens of them running around up and down the headstones. It made a wonderful adventure playground for them.

I think there is something rather cheery about squirrels having fun in what might be considered a sombre place and I was intrigued by the contrast between the stillness of the graveyard and the liveliness of the animals - a true sign that life goes on.

They moved so quickly that it was difficult to capture one in a photo, so I was quite pleased with the result. I am glad I managed to get the squirrel's lovely tail in the picture and I love the ivy in the background.

I tend to get quite excited whenever I spot a squirrel as we don't get many where I live. So seeing so many in one place was definitely a treat for me. I hope I get a chance to go back some time.

We live near woodland and often have squirrels visiting our garden. I never get bored of watching them scurrying around

We have a lot of squirrels come into our garden but when I was a child I don't remember any. They are funny to watch.

I love the picture. Squirrels are fun to watch - and yes I like the idea that graveyards are also wildlife havens.

It's a great photograph, well done! Mum has a very active grey squirrel round her way and I'm sure that one spends a lot of time in the cemetery beyond her back garden as well!

It looks like he is posing for you. I love watching squirrels play and it's always great when you can get a photo of them.

We only see squirrels in the wild - not near our homes at all.

Very cute! Reminds me of the little mouse I took a pic of in my garden a few summers ago. Must unearth that photo again!

I love squirrels. When my husband was growing up he had a couple as pets after rescuing lone babies that had perhaps fallen out of a nest. They would ride in his shirt pocket or on his shoulder. Eventually, they went back to their wild lives, I guess when it was mating season...

Nice picture and the Art Nouveau gravestone is quite something also..

It is a good photo.

I know that we have a number of squirrels around here, but I don't get to see them often enough. I suspect a decent rabbit population, too.
