I stayed there in 2003 - beautiful city - I went up the NC Tower, visited Niagara, saw the Labour Day parade, and an improv comedy club among much more

I believe that Toronto (and other Canadian cities) are used by Hollywood as a substitute for many American cities in lots of movies.

maramadalina wrote on January 11, 2015, 11:18 AM

I never thought of that. It is very likely to be true.

maramadalina wrote on January 11, 2015, 11:19 AM

I'd like to see Niagara one day.

Kasman wrote on January 11, 2015, 11:30 AM

maramadalina - one movie I know which was definitely filmed in Toronto was 'The Incredible Hulk' and many scenes from 'Titanic' were filmed in Canada.

maramadalina wrote on January 11, 2015, 11:40 AM

That's really interesting. I saw both movies but I didn't read about where shootings were made.

Toronto sounds like a wonderful city. I've never visited that part of Canada. I've been to Vancouver and Victoria, BC and Prince Edward Island.

You're right about that. It is used a lot for Boston and other northern cities.

Yes Kasman I heard about that as well. I think they should have lower costs or logistics is less complex?

nbaquero wrote on January 29, 2015, 12:01 PM

maramadalina I have never been to Canada, but would not mind visiting Toronto in the warmer months, not during the winter.

Montreal and Vancouver are also popular with production companies. Certain Hollywood stars like John Travolta have loved Montreal enough to buy a home there.

As a Canadian who has spent many years dealing with people from Toronto and listening to the many stories of police corruption, racial violence, a drug-addicted mayor who made an absolute fool of himself, and citizens who can only deal with a heat wave if the army hands out free water bottles to rich folks in the financial district, I'd say there are probably nicer cities to highlight...

Toronto is one city that I would really like to visit sometime soon. I have heard many good things about it.
