Write On!

So here is the plan. Write everyday. Simple, yes?

I have a certain amount of commissioned writing jobs with local publications, mainly writing music reviews and love music gig guides and although it provides about half of what I need to keep my moderate lifestyle afloat, I really need to up my game. A bit of background. About a two years ago I managed to pay off my house and it is amazing how the removal of that financial burden changes the way you can approach life. I was able to give up my full time job and turn the things that were my hobbies and passions into my main concerns. So writing about local music, organising gigs and running a small record label are technically my career now. Due to not really having enough of an income to keep me in the lifestyle I would like (although I am a man of simple needs) there is a large gap in my week which i could do with filling in the form of money earning writing. Hence being here in the first place. I have recently reactivated my account with one of the leading product review sites and have tasked myself with writing at least one product review everyday and the same here. Of course I am always on the look out for other reputable sites to write for. And even if the reward is mere pennies, the idea of sat at my desk at home, typing out thoughts and experiences is better than working for someone else in my opinion.

So writers write, right and that is what I intend to do. Everyday.

yes writing thoughts is always a refreshing thing, and if you get paid too than it is just icing on the cake

With a mortgage not yet paid off, and two sons in college, leaving my day job to write full-time is not an option for me just yet. Now if Spielberg or Lucas call with a huge offer to turn one of my books into a movie, that could change, lol. I admire that you are able to pursue your passion full-time.

Tomorrow I'll hit a milestone of having written something for the 400th day straight. Although to be honest, some days it was just a sentence or half-a-haiku, but it still counted as writing. :D

Sites like this really do make your time spent on the internet much more rewarding. I could be playing silly games elsewhere, but when I am writing, I am saving for bigger and better things lol

I think what is important is the routine, the idea that you are going to dedicate part of your day, however short, to your writing. Even if you don't produce anything new, maybe you edit something you are working on or just re-read old notes for ideas, it is still part of the process and the fact that you have done this continuously for over a year is a real testament to your dedication.
