Children With Gadgets Get Less Sleep

My friend just tagged me to an article saying kids with gadgets get less sleep. I did not have to read it to believe what it means. My kids both have ipads and it is an effort to control their usage of the device. I give them two hours maximum use of their ipads as long as all their school work is done. My daughter who is 9 years old can now follow these instructions. But my four year old son is still a bit hard to convince. So when it is sleeping time I allow him to use his ipad only to play lullaby songs on youtube. He falls asleep on a minute or two. So far I think my children's gadget use is under control. I could just imagine other children who are left with a nanny while their parents work. I bet they use their gadgets for much longer within the day.

I agree. My daughter usually sleeps between 11:00 to 12:00 midnight. She loves to explore YouTube.

I can imagine that is true. I mean it is two in the morning right now and I'm still up. I don't image it's totally different for kids.

My son plays with his tablet for more than four hours a day or more when I'm not around. As much as I wanted to limit his usage, I am a working mom and he is left with his ever spoiler grandma who lets him play until the battery is drained.

It is really good that you have those rules, because you are teaching them way more skills than just discipline and you do not even realize it. You are also so lucky that you have well behaved kids!
