Predator in the Dark

The time was roughly between three and four o'clock in the morning just like right now. I am sitting in the dark, working on the laptop as I have my ears plugged listening to a show on Netflix.

I am used to the darkness as it does not bother me. I find that I work better like this. I'm alone and tranquil as I pour myself into my work.

Yes, I do believe I am alone here and everyone else is asleep. However, I suddenly feel that someone has touched my left arm. I think nothing of it but, since the feeling is so real, I turn my head to see if there is a ghost or something. Everyone is supposed to be asleep.

Instead, I find myself jolting out of my skin.

Right there, behind my shoulder, is Oreo sitting on the arm of the sofa looking back at me. There was no reason to be shocked but I was. Of course, cats don't sleep. They prey on you instead.

Once my heart settled down, I gave Oreo my attention. He then comes down into my lap right smack in front of the laptop. Ahhhh.... really? He proceeds to use groom himself making it near impossible for me to do anything except for clicking with my mouse. Other than that, I can't use the computer. Eventually, he settles down and chooses to sleep right there.

Little bugger.

I am basically a night person no matter how much my schedule changes.
