100 miles in 90 days First Progress Report

Following angelsharum invite I joined the 100 miles in 90 days challenge on January 2nd.

Here is the first progress report showing the activities for the first week of the year. This report serves two purposes, the first, of course, is to measure the advancement made so far, and the second is to show that being physically active doesn’t take much and brings a lot of benefits.

The table below shows each day walk and then distance covered so far. I am currently On Plan in spite of the 1-day late start. My goal is to walk at least 5 times a week for about 30 minutes (about 1.6 miles), with 2 days of rest.

I plan to do this progress reports every two weeks or whenever I have a change. Offline I am keeping a daily log. So there you have it, taking it one day at a time until I reach those 100 miles.

100 miles in 90 days Progress Report (Week 1)
Date Planned (miles) Actual (miles) Total distance covered (miles)
1/1/2015 1.11 0.0 0
1/2/2015 1.11 1.6 1.63
1/3/2015 1.11 1.6 3.26
1/4/2015 1.11 1.7 4.94
1/5/2015 1.11 1.4 6.34
1/6/2015 1.11 1.4 7.77
1/7/2015 1.11 0.0 7.77

Do you have any physical activity goal for the year?

This is a great plan. I wish I can follow it but at the moment I have too many responsibilities on my hands. Do you use a pedometer or some app?

Louemham wrote on January 9, 2015, 1:25 PM

This is a great plan to follow, I hope that once my back condition is better, I can get out and walk more. Well done and good luck for the rest of the challenge!

No thanks. I prefer to stay home where it's warm and well. And in case I will go outside, I will use the car. emoticon

Thanks Dawnwriter I do not use those at the moment, I am just looking at Google Maps and calculating the distance after I return from my walk. Next week I will be able to use my cell phone to track my walks.

It's cool you have it all charted out. I just write mine in my journal. You are doing great.

I like your style , I walk five miles twice a week normally with my friend. I do try to get out walking most days but normally just a mile . I the good weather we have been known to walk for about 5 hours three times a week.

Wow. I hope you keep it up and reap the best rewards! Still looking for the post where you tagged me.

I think I walk more miles in a week. I took a short walk of 2 hours this morning.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 6:44 AM

Thanks Angelsharum , I am also practicing a little bit creating tables. Have to take advantage of the tools we have here at PersonaPaper.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 6:47 AM

OK suzzy3 No need to brag emoticon  You are certainly fit, walking 5 Hours is well beyond my capabilities these days, but I think eventually I will be able to walk a couple of hours. You must be very disciplined.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 6:48 AM

Thanks a lot trufflehunter I think this is a good challenge.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 6:49 AM

Hi scheng1 two hours is not a short walk in my view. Now I know why you pedometer gave up emoticon :winking:

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 7:48 AM

Thanks louemham any physical activity is good, but yes one has to be careful when starting any exercise regimen to avoid injuries.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 7:49 AM

maramadalina If you do stuff around the house, that counts as physical activity as well, so walking is not the only alternative! emoticon :winking:

My pedometer is an old faithful! I clock about 20,000 steps per day for 100 days. Before I can start another cycle of 100 days challenge, the pedometer gives up.

GabrielaHernandez wrote on January 10, 2015, 10:46 AM

Congratulations! I should do the same as you. I love walking but I never keep track of it and right now it is the only excercise I get.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 10:57 AM

Hi GabrielaHernandez so glad to see you here. Thanks for your comments. Yes, I used to walk for 30 minutes or so, but never measured the distance, now with this challenge I have started doing that.

Nice work nbaquero ! Excellent way to create a plan and stick to it! Last year I ran about 2230ish miles, my base goal for each year is the year, so in 2013 it was 2013, last year it was 2014, and this year it's 2015. I plan to run more than I did last year though.

nbaquero wrote on January 10, 2015, 9:32 PM

Irun Thanks for your comment. About your running plan, wiw, that is about 40 miles a week, in the old times I use to run 25 miles a week. Now I just walk and actually enjoy it very much. Good luck with your plan, I am sure you will meet your goals.

CoralLevang wrote on January 11, 2015, 12:11 PM

Congratulations to you on setting this very attainable goal. :)

Porcospino wrote on January 25, 2015, 11:16 AM

It is inspiring to read about your goal and your progress. I would like to do something similar. At the moment the weather in my country is really cold and it is not very comfortable to walk around outside. I think that I am going to start in March or April instead.

CoralLevang thanks for your comment, do you have any physical activity goal?

nbaquero wrote on February 2, 2015, 1:57 PM

Porcospino Walking is my preferred exercise at the moment, but you can always do some activities around the house, have you tried that?

CoralLevang wrote on February 2, 2015, 2:30 PM

nbaquero I do have a physical activity goal. That goal is to wake up each morning and not worry about my day, but keep putting my foot forward and live. ;)
