My Wiki Is Going Nuts

All the talk over at Bubblews of late has been about all of the other writing sites that are out there. While i still plan on hanging out over there, I thought it might be fun to dip my toe in a couple of others. Obviously, PP was one of them, but I also signed up for a site called Wikinut . My goal there was to do more of a reporting style, with sports being the subject that I tackled most often.

Wikinut pays based on the number of views that your page gets, and I must confess that it was slow going to start off with. Right out of the blue, one of my soccer posts took right off. It was a relatively basic post about the FA Cup, yet over the course of 2 days it has pulled in close to 4,500 page views. The stats only update every 24 hours, so I will need to wait and see how it does today. There was very little drop off in view in the first two days it was up, so I am hoping it carries on.

I had another soccer piece accepted last night, and it that goes the same way, I think it's fair to say that all other sports will be ditched.

have an account there, but have never done anything with it. I guess I might give it a shot.

Wow, shows how popular football is! Maybe you should write something on Oldham!!!

candykane wrote on January 8, 2015, 11:31 AM

Wow! That's an insane number so congratulations. :) You chose a great topic too, I'm a huge football fan and I'm always reading articles on it.

Have you tried to write sports articles for Yahoo! Sports? > http://sports.yahoo.com/ Just my 2 cents.

I didn't know Oldham Athletic were still in the game....I kid, I kid!!

I will have to check the site out. Have heard of it but never taken the time to see what it is all about. Good luck!

Wikinut does attract massive views (I have no idea from where) but the earnings are embarrassing. Most writers on WikiNut are there for fun not money.

I signed up and am checking them out, but all of a sudden it won't load at all. Anyone else having problems with it?

inkedwriter wrote on January 8, 2015, 2:30 PM

It's definitely a fun pursuit for me. I like that I can try out a different writing style there. The few pennies are just a bonus.

inkedwriter wrote on January 8, 2015, 2:44 PM

It's down for me right now. I was just heading there to write, too.

I signed up for one called Milk The Blog in addition to this one but I haven't spent much time on there to really see how it is. There seem to be so many, which seem to be offering much the same thing.

Football is a topic most of the world follows. Glad it worked out so well for you

JeanC wrote on January 8, 2015, 2:48 PM

Glad to know it isn't just me, I tend to get paranoid when things like that happen. Luckily the article I was trying to publish was written in Word sinc the window on the wiki is too small for me, so if the system ate it in the crash I won't have lost anything :)

inkedwriter wrote on January 8, 2015, 3:15 PM

It looks like the site is back up and running now

nbaquero wrote on January 8, 2015, 3:16 PM

I heard about &Wikinut from LoudMan but I haven't really checked it out. You are getting a lot of views on your articles, that is so good. Congratulations.

I haven't ever tried Wiki Nut. Sounds like you found a great place for your sports niche.

africanpen wrote on January 9, 2015, 12:30 AM

It was one site I disliked after joining over a year ago. the rates are so low and very discouraging

Feisty56 wrote on January 9, 2015, 2:47 PM

Forty-five hundred plus view? Not too shabby at all. It sounds like you've found what might be a profitable niche for yourself. : )

inkedwriter wrote on January 9, 2015, 4:00 PM

I'm testing the waters a little further today. The 2 big posts so far have been about English soccer. Writing a post about US soccer right now to see if the niche is big in genera or just big in regards the English game.

Feisty56 wrote on January 9, 2015, 7:49 PM

There is such a thing as U.S. soccer?!? Okay, I know there is, but my goodness, football -- you know, American football, is not yet over. Do Americans think about soccer when there is "real football" to consider? : )

inkedwriter wrote on January 9, 2015, 7:58 PM

I think it depends. I am a huge Steelers fan, but I lose interest as soon as they are out. Major League Soccer (MLS) just announced their 2015 schedule, as well as news on big name imports and changes to playoffs. All very exciting for those who follow the sport.

Feisty56 wrote on January 9, 2015, 9:40 PM

A Steelers fan? What a small world. My home team is the Cleveland Browns, so I am a fan of them first, but have followed the Steelers since Ben Rothlisberger was drafted (he's an Ohio native."

trufflehunter wrote on January 12, 2015, 12:39 PM

Wow that is an epic number of views. This is the second time this week I'm hearing about Wikinut!

kat123456 wrote on January 13, 2015, 4:41 PM

I haven't looked in to that site but sounds like you are doing well! Hope your next article does as well too!

HappyLady wrote on February 5, 2015, 3:45 PM

A word of warning. I have an article on Wikiut with plenty of views and for the views, the pay is abysmal. I stopped writing there much, although I might transfer old Bubblews posts as they don't seem to mind. Said it all when I found the moderators on Bubblews! They did once pay me £2. something spontaneously. In nearly two years with well over a hundred posts i have yet to reach a fiver.
