Did you make any New Year resolutions?
Normally, I don't do New Year resolutions. I think if you're going to make changes in your life, you should make them when you think they are needed, not wait for a specific day to make resolutions which, realistically, you are not likely to keep.
This year is different though. My New Year resolution is to publish my first book in 2015. And I'm sharing the resolution with everyone I know in the writing business, because that way I will do it. It's out there now, so I have to do it.
I've been writing online for about 7 years, and in the last couple of years, I've got to the point where I can say with honesty and pride 'I write for a living.' Okay, it's a modest living, but I could support myself with my writing if I needed to.
I have my own website, which launched in October 2014 and it's doing well, so the next logical step is a book, but that's a whole new thing. What if nobody reads it? What if nobody buys it? What if nobody likes it? If people don't like my blog posts, they can say so, but most times they won't bother, but if they've paid to buy my book and they dont like it, what happens then? A book is like a baby, and in the same way I couldn't cope with someone calling my baby ugly, I don't think I could handle somebody saying 'Your book is rubbish.'
However, it's the next natural progression if I am to develop as a writer, and that's what I want to do. It means a lot to me, even though I'm 62, because writers have no 'best before' date. If you're a good writer - and my readers tell me I am - there is no such thing as retirement.
So - that's my New Year resolution. What about you? Have you made any resolutions for 2015? Are you likely to keep them?

Nope, didn't make any. I resolved many years ago not to make any more New Year's resolutions, and I have faithfully kept that one.

Congratulations on your first book. I have set some goals for myself for this year that i've broken into more attainable steps. One of them is to brush up on my writing skills hence my activity on Persona Paper.

Writers do need to make resolutions as sometimes it takes years for a book to be completed. I wish you determination.

Good one, Michael. It's normally the same for me, but I reckoned if I don't get the book out this year, it will never happen.

Good luck with that. I don't envisage this one taking years, as it's all in my head - no research needed.

Have you heard of a writers' block?

I feel exactly the same way about New Year's resolutions, people make them from force of habit and have ne real intention of keeping them.

No resolutions, therefore I cannot fail. I just like goals which I have The year to complete them in

I don't make resolutions because I will break them. But yours sound excellent.

I don't make New Year's resolutions. I do, however, set goals for myself throughout the year. Right now, I have a fairly significant one that I have set out for myself; well, actually, it is a goal for myself and my boyfriend. It will require a joint effort to accomplish it; however, I believe it can be done.

I never make New Year's resolutions because I learned a long time ago, that I never can keep them, I always break them!
