94.29 to Go

Got my walk in for the day. 1.16 miles today for 5.71 total since I started. Moving right along. Another good thing is that my oxygen didn't drop much at all today. I wish it would do this good every day, but I don't seem to have any control over how the pulmonary hypertension works. All I can do is try to get in better shape.

News on the weight side wasn't as good. The scale was up 2.2 pounds since I weighed on the second. I've been exercising, keeping my carbs lower, and drinking more water. Doing everything I should, but still I gained. This is why I stop trying after a while. I get frustrated.

I still believe it is the heart medication causing it. Someone with a dead thyroid doesn't need to take medication that lowers metabolism, but what can I do? I take the meds or I die. I believe being fat is better than being dead...lol

Hope y'all had a good day today.

There are some trade-offs when it comes to health, as I am beginning to see myself. I think it's fantastic that you're doing the daily walking. You're right -- there's a lot of things better than being dead -- and you're making progress in the right ways. I know it's easy for me to preach patience to you, but once we get past 40 and 50 years of age, losing weight is even more difficult than it had been for us earlier in life.

Medication may do the trick for whatever the ailment is hem for but r weight. I hate that!

Now, i get it. You are walking. I though you are a pilot because of your title stating about miles. Anyway, walking is good in our heart also.

Actually the weight gain could be a good sign. Often when you first start exercising the fat turns to muscle which weighs more. To know for sure you need to measure things like your waist, hips and thighs.

just keep on going and soon you will see improvements

Good for you keeping up the daily exercise. It keeps us limber and fights arthritis and keeps us vertical. Congrads on your accomplishment today.

i completely agree that "being fat is better than being dead". what's important is that your doing your part in keeping you health.... you take your medications and you exercise regularly.

LOL I am 41. It's always been hard for me to lose though with my dead thyroid. It started giving me trouble at age 16. I WAS able to lose before though, just slowly. Now it doesn't seem to happen at all.

Yeah, I hate to take any meds. I only take the ones that keep me alive.

AngelSharum wrote on January 5, 2015, 11:34 PM

LOL I've never even been on a plane.

I did take my measurements on the first. I plan to check again on Feb. 1.

You've inspired me to start keeping up with how far I walk. I did about 1.2 miles today--3 round trips on the driveway.

Perhaps the added weight is just muscle forming - heavier than fat. Maybe it would be a better idea to measure rather than weight...

*weigh

I'm sorry, Angel. I wasn't certain what you are is, but I DO know mine. lol So I guess I was speaking more for my benefit than yours.

AngelSharum wrote on January 6, 2015, 12:58 AM

Good for you! I'm glad I inspired somebody to do something good.

I had gotten rid of my scale. I was without one for three months. Then I found out about the pulmonary hypertension. I'm supposed to weigh every day because if I gain more than 2 lbs in one day or 5 in one week, I have to go to the doc.

There ya go. Me too!

AngelSharum Great job again, I walked to the Home Improvement store yesterday (total 1.4 miles) and I am at 6.3 Miles total. I am about to go for today's walk.

Thats good, that will give a better reading than your weight at first. Dont get discouraged.

AngelSharum wrote on January 6, 2015, 1:49 PM

Already passed me by. I knew it wouldn't take you long. I'm slow...lol

nbaquero wrote on January 6, 2015, 3:05 PM

Well let's say I am creating some cushion just in case I am unable to do my walks later on, besides my plan is to walk 5 times a week, so we will be more or less even at the end of the week, I think.

AngelSharum wrote on January 6, 2015, 3:21 PM

I hope to get more than the average myself each day soon.
