Learning From Our Pets to Relax

I am a big animal lover and have had many animals in my lifetime. Each time I lose one I say I will never get another one. But eventually I always do. I now have two rescued cats. Brendel, asleep in the photo, was rescued about two years ago. She is very special. I watch her lay around and sleep like all cats do. And she reminds me that we should all be as lead back and worry free as our pets. Not a care in the world.

When things start to get me down in life I am reminded mostly by my cats not to worry about trivial things in life. Nothing you can do about it. So kick back and enjoy the moments. It seems to work fine for my cats.

Have a great day everyone and take the time to enjoy the little things in life.

Cats have it down to a fine art - this relaxation thing . they are true experts

This is Guiness the Cat. That's my personal philosophy, too. Purrs to Brendel.

Yes they do and I am learning each day from both of them.

Love the name Merlin. I feel the same with my two, like my kids.

Merlin is certainly like one of my children, and he even loves being held like a baby! Such a pampered cat!

I know how that goes. My other one is the same and I will write about him soon.

I agree, I used to lay down with my cat when I was a child. It's lovely to share time with them as they are so relaxing to be with.

My sister had three rescue cats at one time.

Cats truly are the masters of relaxation. It's not surprising really when they have trained us to be their willing slaves lol

My cat Flo-Jo was put down on 17th September 2014 due to her cancer overwhelming her. I miss her so much. She was a rescue, as are Mum's cats, Ellie and Soxx. One of the highlights of visiting Mum over Christmas was fussing over the moggies. I absolutely love cats and agree that they keep us going in so many ways..without even doing that much. A purr is enough for me. A hug even better.

You're right we do need to relax more and our pets are the perfect solution, at least they say pets help us calm down and relax. My dog cuddles with me on the couch when I watch TV at night and then at least one of the cats try to cuddle when I read at bedtime. :)

We live with three large dogs~two Labs and an English setter. They rule the household around her. The only time that we can rest is when they're resting. Luckily, they like to go to bed early like we do. Thanks for posting.

Pets can bring back such great memories. I love having my pets as they give unconditional love.

Dustin4ever wrote on January 5, 2015, 9:11 PM

Yes indeed! They make great teachers for us who need a reminder to relax. I know my cats own me!

I am so very sorry. I know the feeling of losing a pet. I lost a cat at age 24, she was my son's cat (lost him at age 16) so I do know the feeling. Yes, I love being around my cats.

Dustin4ever wrote on January 5, 2015, 9:13 PM

Yes, my two cats can come around purring and it gets me very time! Cannot imagine not having a pet.

I used to have a cocker spaniel. I miss her so much, such a loving dog. Thank you for commenting.

Cats do seem to have a wonderful Zen-like detachment. Your Brendel is very pretty!

BarbRad wrote on January 7, 2015, 3:24 PM

Good advice. It's easy to tie ourselves up in knots worrying about things that we won't even remember six months from now.

Dustin4ever wrote on January 7, 2015, 3:33 PM

Yes indeed and I thank you very much. I love my pets.

Dustin4ever wrote on January 7, 2015, 3:33 PM

Absolutely that is true and I have done it for years. Finally learning to let go!
