Our GP is worried my daughter may be heading towards an eating disorder

My daughter Kim, has lost 92 pounds in 10 months. She had her gallbladder out and she had to stay on a strict diet until she could handle food again with any amount of substance to it. Well, she didn’t progress to regular foods. She stayed on the strict diet and the weight was coming off at around 10 pounds a month most months.

Our doctor said that she has enough going on without adding an eating disorder to it. She doesn’t like eating because she is afraid she is too fat. She says her tummy is fat. It isn’t. It is a cute little swell that adds to her figure very well. She is in a size 12 and in about 2 weeks she will try on size 10 jeans to see if she can wear them.

Her hubby and I stay on her about the diary and my daughter gets defiant and said DR. H. is not her mama and can’t tell her what to do. I explain to her and so does her hubby that she is headed for anorexia. Yeah, right now she looks perfect, but if she keeps losing down to 120 or 110 she will show every rib. She is gaunt at 110.

I hope she can figure out a way to gain some weight and stay healthy. I am sure you stay worried about her.

I hope she can find a happy medium somewhere where she is happy and healthy at the same time.

Oh that is a tricky spot to be in. Eating disorders are so powerful. This is a tough spot to be in. I hope she will balance out soon and be comfortable in her own skin.

Oh no, that doesn't sound good, I hope you can get her some help, I know it's hard in today's world for women thanks to the stupid super models. In fact, I saw a male and female super model in my psychology book and they looked so bad because they had no fat on them and they were practically skeletons.

Hi Dustin4ever, She still has weight to lose, but the doctor wants her to eat right instead of pick, and make sure she has a little fat in her diet for her hormones and stuff. She doesn't want Kim to focus so much on her weight, but just get healthy. She is a perfect size now. I thought she was in a size 12 but she is now in a size 10. She could probably wear an 8 in a couple of weeks. She just needs to maintain I think or maybe just lose a little more .., maybe 8 pounds or so. She has just 8 pounds to go to lose 100 pounds.

Hi AngelSharum, She is keeping a diary of what she eats, but that is only because we keep on her about it. She is eating better than she was. She is afraid to eat, so it really takes work to get her to eat. She thinks she is fat and she is wearing a size 10 now. She is so cute, and she thinks her belly is fat. It isn't. She has a cute little curve there in her tummy that looks very nice and accents her figure. I think the doctor thinks she is headed for body dysmorphic disorder and anorexia if we don't stay on top of it.

It's hard on women these days. She probably really believes that cause everyone in the media and entertainment is a size 2-4. I hope she comes to love herself the way she is soon and doesn't hurt herself trying to lose too much.
