I Don't Like Watching The News

I can't watch the news anymore for obvious reasons. Who wants to watch something that makes their stomach turn every time it comes on? Not me! The stories that the cover, and even the stories that people choose to blog about on the are so disturbing I can't stand it! I don't want to hear of anymore parents killing their 5 children or suicide bombers blowing people up, or the beheading people, what good will any of this do? It's very mentally draining and has negative effects on my spirit, I just can't participate in watching anymore bad news. I don't understand why the chooses to cover those kind of stories but in my mind it's a way of terrorizing people so they can't sleep at night and it's not healthy to constantly watch such stories. I want a news channel that covers all of the good that people do in the and not mainly focus on the negative aspects of . The things that go on in the world makes me sick to my stomach.

I can relate, it's kind of depressing sometimes. My hubby only calls me to watch things relevant to me.

Do agree. While its important to know ISIL exists there is no sense in knowing all the details of their attrocities. Its just providing oxygen to their evil fire!

I know, they want to terrorize everyone around the that's why they do those unspeakable acts!

That's good that he gives you the heads up about it. It's just so sad to see terrible things happen day in and day out, it's too much to take in.

I know what you mean. For years I did not watch the news at all, I couldn't manage the psychological draining. However, I have started watching it again as a means of keeping informed. I still flip the channel sometimes depending on the story.

I have to limit myself as to how much I watch. Too much, and the anxiety builds up. I don't need that.

I tend to avoid it as well. I feel so helpless knowing there is nothing that I can do to remedy most of what I see and my only result from watching is stress and worry. So much better to tend to whatever you can close to home to help make life and the world better.

I feel the same way. It is in my nature to want to save everyone and when I can't it really affects me.

I don't think anyone should watch it, it's not good for our mental health.

i like to be informed too but enough is enough. I don't like hearing of babies getting abused or murdered, it hurts me so much.

I won't watch the news on television but I do follow news magazines. It's a whole lot better to control what you are exposed to. However, we need to be aware of what it shown on television network news otherwise we would be ignorant to major disasters that could involve loved ones in other areas.

I know your right. Maybe I'll just turn it on when the weather comes on! emoticon

Stepping out the door tell me the weather ;)

And it is there where I hit the wall -- I want to know what is happening in the world, but I don't want to sink into depression either. So I strive for a balance.

I don't there is anything wrong with ignoring the news. I will once in a while but it's a lot of repetition anyway. I'd rather write or read!

Agree. Don't like watching the news either. Sometimes, it just makes me so mad and annoyed that I just avoid it all together. A lot of the news is also depressing and some of the news even seems very biased against one side, which pisses me off even more since I just end up feeling bad for those that are being discriminated against. Wish the news could be fairer and could show both sides of the story without being biased. And that we can hear some good news every once in a while, at the very least.
