Bubblews Ate My Guinea Pig!

A recurring topic on this and most other writing sites is Bubblews. Sometimes we even find it even difficult to refer to the site by name. Phrases such as 'the other site' are often used.

People's reactions to the B site vary from extreme rage (particularly those who have lost 100s of dollars) to acceptance that this is part of writing on-line and we, like any other consumer, need a buyer beware attitude.

My position is I have $45 in the bank there but there is little point in continuing to write as I've no idea what the 'virtual' exchange rate actually is. My wife 'redeemed' mid November just over $50 and the bank now shows she will receive about $16. In reality she may never get anything. Who knows what my $50 would be worth if I ever tried to redeem in the future?

Yes, I hear you saying, but what about the Guinea Pig? Well it's just a metaphor taken from a classic headline in the UK Sun newspaper:

FREDDIE STARR ATE MY HAMSTER!

Freddie didn't really eat it and my Guinea Pig is really buried in my garden - he died of natural causes.

I've got $40 in my bank and I'm not trying to reach $50 either. I'll never get there because I'm only getting a cent or two per post lately.

I can't accept that they're allowed to change the rules retroactively though. We shouldn't be punished because they couldn't control the fraud on the site. Even some of the plagiarised posts I reported months ago are still there.

That B site ate and digested well my $150. LOL.

Oh, I'm missing a couple of redemptions - but then I never wrote enough to accumulate 100s of dollars, and I've had a lot of fun posting there! I guess it was good to be paid, but most of it was social as far as I was concerned, anyway - and I never trusted the mathematics. Sorry, Rik - I'm still going to blow the occasional bubble! Meanwhile, Cadbury the guinea pig sleeps happily under our oak tree dreaming of cucumber and pellets...

RikRavado I am no longer thinking about that site. Just moving on with my plan. It was painful to see all those honest writers being lied to.

I agree but feel sorry for all those who were depending on the site to put food on their table

I've got $16 in my bank at Bubblews right now, and it barely moves. I don't think I'll ever reach another redemption. I have two pending though, so I'll keep my account open until I get paid. IF I ever do :/

I'm $1.59 from redemption. I'm thinking if I do the occasional bubble I might redeem by Easter. I'm not committing to which year though!

Yes, it has been quite the hot topic for the past few days. I also have some pending money there, but I wouldn't be surprised if I never saw it. I'm a little in between the extremes - I am angry, but also I accept that it is part of the risks you take with trying to make money online.

Whatever is in your B-bank now should stay at its current value, since it's already been calculated at the new rate. That is, assuming the B-site doesn't change their rules unexpectedly again....

You'll notice that a lot of people are avoiding the use of the site's name. That's because we don't want to promote the site, especially while we're writing on other sites that compete with it for internet traffic emoticon

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:40 PM

Agree, there is no logic or legality to their statements!

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:41 PM

Glad for you that you can laugh at the situation. Laughter is good medicine!

As the saying goes, one door opens as another closes!

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:44 PM

Here is hoping you get something back - If you check the bank it should let you know what they intend to pay for each redemption in progress.

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:45 PM

Frustrating to be so close!

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:46 PM

Yes i think Bubblews has always hit and miss with payments (both amounts and timing)

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:47 PM

I hope you are right but they haven't made it crystal clear if the current bank balance will be honoured

Gina145 wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:48 PM

I'm not afraid to use the site's name because I've got nothing good to say about it.

As for what's in our banks now, its value really depends on when last we redeemed. My last (unpaid) redemption was in October, so the rate I received for my first few posts after that was still a lot more than it is now. One of my friends at Bubblews wrote about a redemption that was reduced by 95% and I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened to me. I'll never reach $50 though, and I'm not even trying.

Well the clever title made me click and read. I am a "other site" person as well. I am about a hundread bucks due me. I will see if I get it. When I do I will close it down. I think even at this point if they got their act together no one trusts them.

I think it was actually the daily sport that ran the hamster story - the Bubblews fiasco is still ongoing sadly

Vickiw wrote on January 11, 2015, 12:27 AM

Oh, talk about opening old wounds! It's a painful process to leave everything behind, but it has to be.

Isn't it sad that Bubblews has died and no longer exists? It had great potential in it's hey day. I just wish it had been run right by owners who knew how to run businesses.
