Boxing Day: My New Favorite Holiday, by Guiness the Cat

It is me, Guiness the Cat. I'm afraid I wasn't as active as I should have been during the week after Christmas, but that is partially because I have been so very busy celebrating my new favorite holiday: Boxing Day!

This holiday is so wonderful, I can't figure out why we American kitties have not claimed it sooner! A whole day just to celebrate boxes!

Boxes, boxes, boxes! I love boxes! I adore boxes! I live for boxes!

I have informed Debbi that from now on we are going to celebrate Boxing Day with a bang every year. Parties! Decorations! Food! And most of all, BOXES.

And more food.

Of course, we should pause for reflection.

And naps.

Sigh. Boxing Day. Such a wonderful holiday.

Aw bless you Guinness. I was at the supermarket earlier and there were lots of boxes which I nearly brought home for my cats

Oh Guiness, your boxing day looks such fun. I am going to ask Human 1 if I can have one too. Love from Freya, the Catblog Cat. P. S I will blog soon.

Guiness, I think you have a very definitely feline take on the holiday. emoticon

This is Guiness the Cat. Perfectly good boxes and you just LEFT them there to be destroyed???! How could you?

Dear Freya the Catblog Cat,

One day is not sufficient to adequately celebrate boxes! I think I am going to use my executive privilege as president of the Professional Cat Bloggers Association to extend the holiday.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat

This is Guiness the Cat. I think I have a very definitely feline take on most everything. Purrs!

Guiness, these photos really do you justice and are worthy of you. Debbi should be given credit for making you look so good here. These could not have been selfies.

Ah yes, boxes. Must be inspected and tried for size, eh, Guiness? Can be climbed upon when closed to check for weightbearing possibilities and assist in feelings of superiority over your humans, too, as you amply demonstrate.

Happy belated Boxing Day Guiness. Of course, the original boxing day featured boxes with FOOD in them or other things, because Victorian servants were allowed to go home to their families on Boxing day, taking gifts or leftovers with them. So did you get any tasty titbits in YOUR boxes?

This is Guiness the Cat. Debbi does okay sometimes. She says she might have gotten a little too enthusiastic when she chose 50% for some of the photos, but I like photos of me to be huge and overwhelming. I think she should have chosen 100% myself.

This is Guiness the Cat. No box too big or too little. You should see some of the ones I've gotten myself into.

This is Guiness the Cat. FOOD in BOXES? Oh, joy, joy, joy! Wait--I'm missing something here! I've been robbed!

"Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
...
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks."

Eleanor Farjeon knew your wily ways, Guiness. The smaller the box, the better, isn't it, for you? Because then it's warm and cosy. Mum used to let our cat, Fudge, sleep in a cardboard box lined with old woolly jumpers, and the more jumpers she could cram in, the better he liked it.
