New and IMPROVED!!! (means run AWAY!!)

Hello everybody!

Well... I just found this site through another site and I have to say I absolutely love it. Just like first impressions with people, so it goes with sites. It's also true that you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression, so if you screw up the first time, better be prepared for trouble.

I have been seeing lots of posts about changes and lots of gripe posts discussing other sites that we probably all know about because we've all been at them. I really haven't tried many of them, I was a very loyal follower (I hope that's how I tag) for several years, and not only did I really enjoy posting at the site, I enjoyed a lot of the people I met. I just brought my friend Deee here, she was one of my favorite people that I had met on the other site. The biggest thing I have learned, not just about sites in general but almost anything really is DO NOT TRUST anything that claims 'new and improved'. When our other site began making big changes, they of course marketed it to the users as 'exciting changes!' and 'new and improved'. RED FLAG! I am sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, because we all ended up other places or maybe even completely swearing off sites like this.

When Mylot started to die, I talked to a lot of my friends there and some of us decided to connect on facebook and have more of a real-life relationship - within reason. Some people looked for other sites and moved on to them. I checked out a few of them but for the most part, I just didn't get a good first impression, it seemed like too many rules and regulations, and very un-user-friendly to connect with people. Some of us discussed staying for awhile, but when you begin to have a mass exodus of people, you lose the brightest and the best, and also the cranky pots who like to stir the pot - because there's no more give and take, comments, and conversations. You end up feeling like you're talking to yourself, or teaching an English class.

I am REALLY hoping that I have found a good place to put down some roots again and have fun connecting with people. Conversation truly is the root of lifelong learning, good, bad, and ugly. I look forward to more from Persona Paper, and I ask that our leaders here that are responsible for this great site please listen when I tell you I don't want to see any new and improved tags down the road, or for you to decide not to bless your users for their content and conversations. I am willing to help this site grow and flourish as much as I can, and as long as it remains a positive enjoyable environment for all.

I just joined as well. So far so good. The owners are actually connected to you.

I just joined very recently but I get a great feeling from this site. Like beachchair said, the owners connect to you right away. I think that's great for making sure all avenues of communication are open. They really seem to put the writers first.

I saw that and I really like it. When you invest in your company or group or club, you know what works and what doesn't - because people TELL you, and that leads to actually fixing what's broken and not fixing what's just fine (a trend I see at a lot of sites) lol!

I'm not sure any previous sites I've been part of have actually had that personal touch. Could be what's been missing.

I agree. I truly believe the site administrators want quality work here, and the submission of an introductory post (which almost 100% assures that plagiarizers and spammers won't be here) helps establish that. And, as you said, they're HERE, clearly visible to us all.

I, too, have developed a wariness (and weariness) of "upgrades" over the years. I have been on a variety of sites during the past eight or nine years, and I have seen quite a bit.

I am very choosy about where I'll post and spend my time. Until I found this site, the last one I was active at was mylot. It was very similar to this - most other things were full of scammers and had too many regulations and very vague and disquieting things said by anybody in admin, including total ignoring of any honest questions from users. At the end, it seemed people were all getting jilted, not paid, and not heard, and that's all a signal of a dying bad site. Not worth investing in anything that seems like it might go down that road, but it's so hard to know.
