The great PP Membership read through has started here

I know a few of you are determinedly through the here and commenting on every one.

I've started a little differently in that I'm noting everyone's and seeing who I want to follow of the ones. I have the members' list sorted by country so that I have a good mix of all types of writer and I'll be working through the list slowly over the next few days (or maybe weeks, depending on how many hours to myself I have...)

By the time I'm done I'll have the answer to fufurinha 's question about how many members are actually active here.

So far I've found several people I know from other sites, some active, others inactive (although hopefully they'll be back soon.) I've worked through 150 of the 971 current members today and hope to have some more done tomorrow.

But for now, as it's nearly midnight, I'm off to bed.

You will need an account to comment - feel free to register or login.

Share with us what you find out in the end :D

Wow, remember what I said about you liking huge, demanding projects? :D Seriously, I wish I had your work ethic--you really impress the crap out of me!

I have thought about browsing and seeing about others on here but I can barely keep up with the friends I follow now.

You have an interesting strategy. I might have to follow your lead and check out who are the more active members on PP. I guess this is so important esp since some have become inactive. It is a task to go through the list but I will do a few per day not to become overwhelmed.

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 4:12 AM

Of course I will. You do know that it's all because you asked about the number of members who posted compared to the actual number of mambers on the site. So thank you for giving me the idea.

If I could guarantee I'd have as much time to myself as I did yesterday then I'd be done in a week. But that isn't going to happen, so I shall probably extend the rpoject to the end of January and then keep up with new members as they join. Work ethic? What work ethic. Reading has never been a problem to me. Finding the time for it has, at times.

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 4:17 AM

It'll probably end up being the same with me too, but it'll be interesting to try at least.

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 4:23 AM

That's exactly what I'm doing. I've copied the membership list into an Excel spreadsheet and work through it in my own unique way, using page down rather than starting at the top. Means the variety of writing is at its biggest.

I am glad that my post gave ideas to other members :D

Wordchazer a very detailed project indeed, that will take a good amount of hours. Very nice idea.

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 11:12 AM

Oh, you certainly started something with that question, my dear. See, other members do read, comment and react to questions on this site, and sometimes it leads to more than anyone would have thought.

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 11:13 AM

It's an excellent way to get to know the members here as well as finding new people to read and follow too.

AngelSharum wrote on December 27, 2014, 4:56 PM

I would be active but I can't post articles. They are working on fixing it. Don't count me out yet!

Ruby3881 wrote on December 27, 2014, 5:34 PM

Hmmm, how did you sort the list by location? Did you copy it offline?

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 6:37 PM

Yup, it's in an Excel file so I can add status comments to each member. Highlight the list, copy, paste as text into an Excel sheet and you can apply a sorting filter and slice it any which way you want.

WordChazer wrote on December 27, 2014, 6:38 PM

Say what? Can't post articles? Have you been hit by the great advert blackout or something?

celticeagle wrote on December 28, 2014, 12:41 PM

It's not like I need any other big jobs to do. Haha

WordChazer wrote on December 28, 2014, 1:02 PM

Same here! Really not keeping up well at the moment.

Ruby3881 wrote on December 28, 2014, 2:30 PM

Wow, you put a lot of effort into that....

WordChazer wrote on December 28, 2014, 4:23 PM

Copy, paste, filter. Away you go. I'm a third of the way through the list and stopping now to sort out some links for my client's articles.

AngelSharum wrote on December 28, 2014, 7:13 PM

elitecodex got it fixed for me. He thought it was fixed already but it wasn't. Something simple it turned out.

WordChazer wrote on December 29, 2014, 3:18 PM

I thought I'd seen an article again from you! Welcome back *hugs*

Sheilamarie78 wrote on January 2, 2015, 9:10 PM

As usual, you are a conscientious writer and researcher. I'm one of the new influx.

WordChazer wrote on January 3, 2015, 4:33 PM

Good to see you here too emoticon :winking: I've just followed you too. The project took a few days off while new year got in the way but will resume next week when I should have more time to myself again.

arthurchappell wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:09 PM

sounds like quite a Herculean undertaking - be interesting to see the results

WordChazer wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:24 PM

Hoping to have some time next weekend after the initial back to work rush to get some more done. In the meantime I'm supposed to be writing an article but I haven't quite made it there yet.
