It's Beginning to Smell a Lot Like Christmas, by Guiness the Cat

Hello, it is me, Guiness the Cat, popping in between naps to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and to remind you that I like tuna juice, cheese, treats, lunch meat, cardboard boxes, and bags of just about any sort. Gift bags, tote bags, suitcases, backpacks. It doesn't matter. I also like cash and gift cards just fine, too.

Just in case you forgot.

I have been very busy supervising the Christmas card process today, and I think we are almost done. We can't afford to mail but a few, so we have been doing as many e-cards as possible. We've made several, and I think we should sell them and get rich. After all, apparently it's not gonna happen trying to sell leaves on the internet.

Humans don't seem to understand the wisdom of investing in fall leaves.

The best Christmas cards, of course, are pictures of me, but Debbi came up with one or two ideas that wasn't bad for a human. I didn't personally like the ones with snow in them (especially the one of me in the snow!), but humans have this silly notion that snow is Christmassy. And I'm not convinced the deer with the red nose is actually Rudolph. I don't recall seeing Rudolph hanging around my yard looking for acorns.

I hope everyone has a Christmas that smells as good as the giant Christmas tree in my front yard. If it smells like tuna juice, that would be even better.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat

Hi Guiness, Merry Christmas and I hope Rudolph and Santa bring you LOTS of Tuna juice, from Clarice the cat.

Ah, my friend, it is good to hear from you. I can only imagine how much Debbi has appreciated your supervision of her holiday preparations. : ) Merry Christmas to you and your human. I imagine visions of tuna juice rather than sugar plums will be dancing in your head.

merry Christmas to you too Guiness!!! you're the busiest and the smartest cat i know. i hope you get everything in your list this Christmas.

allen0187 wrote on December 22, 2014, 7:39 PM

Hi Guiness, it seems you have Christmas all figured out. Good for you. I won't be celebrating Christmas this year, at least, not in the way that I usually celebrate it. I'm also tempted to say that there will be no Christmas for me. I just want Christmas to be over and done with, same with 2014. Call me Grinch if you will...

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 22, 2014, 8:11 PM

This is Guiness the Cat. You're so sweet, Clarice.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 22, 2014, 8:13 PM

This is Guiness the Cat. Huh? Oh, sorry. I must have dozed off. Yes, I have been diligently supervising all the things that haven't gotten done here today.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 22, 2014, 8:16 PM

This is Guiness the Cat. Pay no attention to the snorting sound you heard when I read your comment to Debbi. Debbi has no right to snort about how busy I've been. I am quite smart, though.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 22, 2014, 8:18 PM

Dear Grinch,

I hope you have an unexpectedly merry Christmas. Purrs from me.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat

allen0187 wrote on December 22, 2014, 8:28 PM

Thanks Guiness. Hopefully, you get your tuna juice. I'll settle for another type of Guiness, the beer one!

AngelSharum wrote on December 22, 2014, 8:50 PM

I hope you have a great Christmas as well, Guiness. Sorry the leaf idea didn't take off for you.

Merry Christmas to all the readers of this article. Here in the Philippines, today is December 23, 2014 and I am still working in the Library.

paigea wrote on December 22, 2014, 10:17 PM

I hope you get your Guinness and Christmas is okay for you. Difficult time here too, but we have little ones in the family to bring us joy.

paigea wrote on December 22, 2014, 10:18 PM

Merry Christmas Guiness and Debi. I wish I had a cat to help me do the very little I do every day.

HappyLady wrote on December 23, 2014, 9:11 AM

This is most unfair. You are having all the fun. I have been left behind and am looking after the house. I know some of my favourite Humans are coming to see me and Human 2 has left a ton of food and I will have a peaceful time, but I am not getting my prresents till Human 1 is back. She has left heating and Christmas dinner for me though and I have gone visiting my friends in the street anyway. Have a great Christmas and enjoy what is on the cards. Love from Freya the Cat blog Cat.

This is Guiness the Cat. It's a shame, too, because I have such a large inventory.

Dear Guiness have a merry xmas and pass on my best wishes to that woman you look after...

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 23, 2014, 11:33 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Merry Christmas to you, too. Meow!

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 23, 2014, 11:38 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. You humans always expect the cat to do all the work. Sigh. Now excuse me. I have to supervise Debbi as she figures out what to do about a (hopefully) small plumbing fiasco.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 23, 2014, 11:49 AM

Dear Freya the Catblog Cat,

I think this would be a very good time for you to come visit me. You can visit your friends in the street when Human 1 returns. You aren't going to get your presents until then, anyway.

I will make sure Debbi not only fills your bowl, but stirs it occasionally as well, and then we will both sit on her and double the amount of cat hair on her clothes. I'm sure I can convince her to buy lunch meat if we have company.

I've netted a nice collection of new cardboard boxes recently as Debbi has happened upon stock clerks as the store just as they were stocking the shelves and nabbed a few for me. (She says they are for decluttering, but that doesn't really appear to be the case as they are still empty.) They are quite fun to sleep on.

All in all, I think it would be a very good Christmas.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat

P.S. You should have no trouble finding us. It's the house with all the leaves.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 23, 2014, 11:53 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Thank you, and merry Christmas to you, too. I'll tell that woman just as soon as I finish supervising the resolution and clean up of an unfortunate plumbing issue in the bathroom.

A cat's work is never done.

Cats and their tuna. Silly. Hope you and your owner have a grand holiday. Lots of naps and goodies.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 25, 2014, 1:23 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. I love boxes. I adore boxes. I live for cardboard boxes! And tuna juice.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 25, 2014, 1:24 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Got my tuna juice and my pre-bedtime nap. Time to go night-night. Merry Christmas.

celticeagle wrote on December 26, 2014, 12:19 AM

You are a silly animal aren't you? I can see where a cat with an imagination can entertain herself for along time with a box or two. And as far as the tuna juices goes, have you every had your pet fix you eggs with tuna fish? It is delicious!

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 26, 2014, 12:46 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. I'm not real big on eggs, but my human does like them with tuna.

celticeagle wrote on December 26, 2014, 12:49 AM

They are good especially cooked in butter and with home make bread made into toast. Yum!

WordChazer wrote on December 26, 2014, 12:21 PM

Happy Christmas Guiness and OldRoadsOnceTraveled ! May the new year bring a glut of tuna and money. emoticon :winking:

momathome wrote on December 26, 2014, 1:31 PM

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Guiness and received everything on your list -- including the Tuna Juice! My cats here had to settle for the fat from a smoked brisket since we didn't have a turkey this year, although they seemed to purr contentedly while they ate it, so I guess it was sufficient.

allen0187 wrote on December 27, 2014, 8:37 PM

I didn't get the Guiness that I wanted but i did have Jack Daniel's and cola. Didn't celebrate you know what.

maxeen wrote on December 29, 2014, 10:25 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Oh, I hope so!

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 30, 2014, 12:35 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. I did get my tuna juice. I also got four very nice Dr. Pepper boxes to lay on, but they inexplicably got moved from the middle of the living room floor to the kitchen. I don't know why. I liked them perfectly fine where they were. I need to post a picture as soon as my picture poster isn't so crazy busy offline.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on December 30, 2014, 12:35 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Have a very meowy New Year.

Merry Christmas Guiness the Cat, I hope you got all the gifts and that you enjoyed them. I also hope you enjoyed bringing in the New Year with your family. Happy New Guiness the Cat and my this year be filled with love, joy and all the treats your heart desires.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on January 2, 2015, 6:12 PM

This is Guiness the Cat. I was quite enjoying all my new Dr. Pepper boxes that Debbi so conveniently left me in the middle of the living room until she moved them all into the kitchen for some reason. I'm snubbing them in protest now, and making her feel sorry for me having to lay on the cold, boring floor. I don't know why it's not seeming to be a very effective protest.
