Christmas in the Philippines

The Philippines is a Christian dominant country. It celebrates Christmas probably the longest in the world. The holiday celebration starts in the first day of September where Christmas songs are already played in radio stations. Homes, offices, and other establishments are starting to be decorated.

Evening masses which starts December 16 and ends on the midnight of December 24 are well attended by Filipino families.

Various native delicacies like rice cakes are part of the Christmas season. These are eaten with coffee or hot chocolate. Most native delicacies are made of glutinous rice which is believe to make family ties more cohesive.

Family reunion is also part of the Christmas season in the country. Family members who are working in the city or even overseas find time to go home in the province to celebrate the holiday with the relatives and friends.

i just hope that every Filipino family will have a happy Christmas this year inspite of the calamities that hit my country and killed thousands of my fellow Filipinos and damaged homes.

I love Christmas in the Philippines. But if I don't have money, just like today. My salary is not yet released, I am not happy :)

Most Danes are Christians as well and Christmas is an important holiday in our country, but we don't start as early as you do. Here the Christmas preparations don't start till the middle of October.

I have always wanted to go to the Philippines during Christmas. I used to live there but was never there during Christmas.
