400 Page Views in Two Days!

Hi, Everybody,

I'm back! Although I have been reading and commenting here and there, I had to take a few days off from writing here at Persona Paper because I have been busy with my blogging project, described in my recent article . I interviewed the bookstore and the candy shop on Tuesday, the pet store on Wednesday, and the spa on Thursday evening. I published my blog post on the book store on Wednesday and the one on the candy shop on Thursday. Both shops posted a link to my article on their Facebook pages, and my page views took off like a rocket! Whereas I previously had 500+ page views on my blog in the entire time I've had it (since August, with 17 pieces of content), I now have well over 900 page views with those two additional pieces, and I have no doubt it will top 1,000 within the next day or so!

This is due to the power of promotion--you can promote your own work to the moon and back, but you only have the resources and the audience at your disposal. Getting other people to promote your blog is the key--in addition to the two businesses posting links on their pages, there have also been two shares of the bookstore article and one of the candy store article. That's people I don't even know promoting my work, for free, just because I wrote about something they like!

I will be posting my article about the pet store soon, and since I will be including information about a charity event that they are doing with several animal rescue groups in the area, I am hoping that those groups might share a link, as well. Wish me luck!

Those shops will definitely promote the blog posts. It's free advertising for them.

I am so thrilled for you! I can feel your excitement -- it's contagious. : ) Admire the plan you are executing for getting your blog off the ground, boosting not only your audience but also promoting local businesses along the way. You are one smart cookie.

Yes that is the key! Write about something that others want to promote and share as well. Sounds like you have a plan of action and it is working great. Congrats

This is great news. Congratulations, hope it keeps up.

AliCanary It's only the beginning, hope this strategy pays off in the long run, it has gotten a great start. Congrats.

Good for you! Congratulations! I hope you enjoy more.

Wow, sounds like you have the key to the Holy Grail there (or something like that anyway!) Well done. Getting page views and promotion is a black art to me.

I suspected this would work, but I had no idea how well! It hasn't earned a ton of money, yet, but it has a lot of potential to add up.

AliCanary wrote on December 5, 2014, 5:44 PM

True, and for me, as well! Nothing better than a win-win.

It's been a great experience, so far! I am getting a chance to have extremely positive interactions with some of Greensboro's most productive citizens, and I'm really getting a lot of "behind-the-scenes" information--I really feel like quite an insider, lol

Thank you! I've already topped 1,000 views today, and I am looking forward to the "snowball effect" that additional posts will create.

AliCanary wrote on December 5, 2014, 5:50 PM

I think it will as long as I have places I can go do interviews with. I was contacted today by yet another!

AliCanary wrote on December 5, 2014, 5:51 PM

I think it's one of those things that is going to require an ongoing commitment, so it's less passive income and more of a job, but hey, it's a really fun job.

AliCanary wrote on December 5, 2014, 5:55 PM

Thank you! I still have two more interviews done to turn into articles, one more scheduled, and another business messaged me today to say that they would contact me next week about setting something up. That's six out of the first 11 that I contacted. I feel like all I have to do when things slow down is just send out another round of invites!

I know it might be hard for you to flit about when you have a demanding job, but since most shops are open in the evening, I am sure that you could do a few in your spare time. Or just tap into the Facebook groups. If you can get other people to help, well, "many hands make light work", and all that.

bestwriter wrote on December 5, 2014, 6:17 PM

You are quite an inspiration here!

AliCanary wrote on December 5, 2014, 11:01 PM

I might be able to do that more easily with my art blog, in linking back to posts I wrote here.

I am so pleased for you. Actually you made me think. I rarely promote other people's work, but if we all do more of that it helps everyone.

Madcanman wrote on December 6, 2014, 7:02 AM

Sounds like you are very energetic and a real go-getter! I applaud you, Ali. Almost sounds like something I'd be tempted to start/try down here in my neck of NC. You've given me some great ideas. Keep it up!

Seventeen pieces already? Oh wait - I just checked - it's up to twenty-two now! It doesn't feel like it's been that many already...

BarbRad wrote on December 8, 2014, 1:48 AM

I seem to have missed that post. I'd better look it up. Maybe I should do more with my own local blog.

It sounds like this idea is really paying off for you! Congratulations again, for being such a go-getter :)

Shiladitya wrote on December 20, 2014, 12:09 AM

Wow, I never expected that can happen. I seriously hope I have so many views on my posts too.

This is great! Congratulations. You tapped into what I like to call the leverage of the Internet. Why do things yourself when you have all the Internet to do it for you :) Keep up the good work!
