Frugal Tip: Buying Gift Cards
This is the time of year for buying gifts. And most people overlook giving restaurant gift cards due to thinking they are "not personal" enough for gifts.
This is the time of year that most restaurants, retail stores and online retailers offer bonuses when you purchase their gift cards. So every year around this time, I purchase several gift cards. I am able to score bonuses when buying the gift cards. I do not hand these out as presents for the Holidays, I save these cards for mine and the hubby's date nights.
This makes it more frugal throughout the year for those special nights out on the town. Not only can I score some cards at a discount, but I also earn bonus items as well. This makes for a win-win situation.
We like to go out on the town every once in a while, and I will also pair these gift cards with coupons. This makes for a very special evening...and a frugal one at that.
Have you ever bought these holiday gift cards for yourself? Or do you give them away as gifts and keep the bonus certificates for yourself?

I'd rather gift cash than gift cards as the person receiving it can choose where they want to spend the money. I don't buy them as a general rule but I do take advantage of offers to get them as a freebie.

We received a restaurant gift card as a gift last year and really enjoyed it. We got to try a restaurant that we might not have gone to before!

I've been fortunate to receive a few restaurant gift cards, some to places I like and some to places I've enjoyed trying.

I had also purchase gift cards to be given to some friends.It is more flexible that buying stuff.
They have their options to choose for their preferences
