BBB might help you make the other site finally pay your missing redemptions

There are sites like that have implemented best practices and have created a great community that is growing on a daily basis.

In the meantime other similar sites are crumbling and becoming less relevant day by day, due to the lack of true leadership and transparency. That, of course, includes what I call the o ther site.

Back in September I wrote about how users at the other site could probably use the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to help them get their missing payments. You can read all about it here .

Well, after learning that some of my most trusted connections have almost ten pending payments and other are due payments since 2013, I decided to revisit the BBB site and see if the number of complaints had increased.

Back in September they were only two complaints reported, by early November the number of complaints filed had increased to 17. As expected, most of those complaints are related to delayed/missing payments.

The good news for the users, it that it look like involving BBB has forced the other site make the payments , and stop delaying them for no reason.

If you are one of those users in this situation, take a look for yourself at the BBB link provided below and see if this would be a way for you to proceed to get your money finally paid.

You can even read the details about the complaints, and the Other Site's response. The Bottom line is all of those people that filed a complaint got their money.

Note: The link seems not to be working for people out of the US or at least in the UK (thanks Kasman ), so you can always try and from there seach for the Greater San Francisco branch and then the name of the other site.

Hope this helps all my fellow writers that are being mistreated at the other site .

I did that and it worked.

slgarcia thanks for confirming first hand that this does work. I am sure many more people can benefit from filing a complaint!

This is good information. Bubble Ooze should pay up to those honest writers who have invested a lot of time and effort in that site. BTW your link to the BBB doesn't work from the UK.

nbaquero wrote on November 21, 2014, 3:19 PM

Kasman I do hope so. Thanks for alerting me about the link, I have added a note.

Thanks for sharing this information. I hope it reaches those who can make best use of it.

BarbRad wrote on November 22, 2014, 3:44 AM

Thanks for that link. It appears the other site is anxious to keep its nose clean in the eyes of BBB to remain in good standing.

nbaquero wrote on November 24, 2014, 1:43 PM

Hi Feisty56 Thanks for your comment, I do hope so too. It is only fair they get paid.

nbaquero wrote on November 24, 2014, 1:44 PM

BarbRad Yes, it seems the other site responds quickly to those complaints.

Interestingly, I was just reading all those complaints at the BBB the other day. I did see the responses to the complaints, and found them interesting as well.

nbaquero wrote on December 2, 2014, 10:34 AM

Anja the good thing is that those complaints are effective, I see the people is being paid, just as SLGarcia indicated above.

Ruby3881 wrote on December 4, 2014, 5:17 AM

Even just the threat of reporting them can be quite effective!

Ruby3881 wrote on December 4, 2014, 11:24 AM

The link is working here in Canada. Better Business Bureau's territory is Canada and the US, though....

Ruby3881 wrote on December 4, 2014, 11:30 AM

It's important to note that several of the complaints registered were responded to with requests for the member's email address and username, or with claims that they couldn't find wither any content in the account or any request for redemption. Other requests were met with a statement about eligibility of posts, and so only a partial payment was made.

When filing a complaint with the BBB, it is best to double-check all your content to be sure none is in violation of rules. Also submit screen shots of redemption requests, and be sure to supply your username and PayPal email. Don't give them any reason to stall or deny they know who you are.

I wonder if I want to go to this extent. If Bubblews ends up closing down, it will be worst for all of us.

nbaquero wrote on December 9, 2014, 7:38 AM

scheng1 Well, if they don't meet their commitment something has to be done, don't you think. Besides, those bubblers have earned that money following the rules.

I have filed a complaint as well. It's not the way I like to do business, but a worker is entitled to his wages.

nbaquero wrote on December 16, 2014, 11:15 AM

VinceSummers they need to deliver on their commitments, is what I say.

nbaquero wrote on December 27, 2014, 10:53 AM

&TheresaWiza thanks for your comment. It has been effective for some people like SLGarcia but not so much for others. Still it is an alternative for trying to get the missing payments.

Ruby3881 wrote on December 29, 2014, 12:15 AM

Have you had any progress on your complaint yet, Vince?

VinceSummers wrote on December 29, 2014, 8:52 AM

Actually, no, . I was told by BBB they had until the 31st of December. I don't know what happens then. If they had contacted me before the 31st, I was to tell BBB. However, it may be at this point they're so short of money, they are either 1. waiting until the last second, or 2. can't pay. We'll see where it goes...

VinceSummers wrote on December 30, 2014, 8:52 AM

They have one day to respond to BBB. What if they do not? Can you tell us the story?

nbaquero wrote on December 30, 2014, 10:30 AM

VinceSummers I don't know I have not personally filed any complain. But I think they will send a response to comply with BBB guidelines/regulations, the thing is their response can be vague or unsatisfactory. I am tagging SLGarcia to shed some light in here, she filed a complain and was solved succesfully.

nbaquero wrote on December 30, 2014, 10:32 AM

VinceSummers also please note the comments from Ruby3881 , they might reply asking for more information.

kelemenk wrote on January 2, 2015, 2:04 PM

I hope you will get your money Vince although with their latest announcement it doesn't look very good. I am too missing a payment since August and I contacted them, they promised it will be taken care of...then the site changed and I claimed again as they asked...well we know the rest of the story. Empty promises.

VinceSummers wrote on January 2, 2015, 2:29 PM

Just moments ago, I received an echeck (not the cash, yet) equivalent to 2/3 the actual submission value for November 11th/12th. They were ignorant enough, and their reasoning (albeit full of stupidity and lies) reasonable enough, that I will take 2/3.

kelemenk wrote on January 2, 2015, 2:39 PM

VinceSummers at least you got some out of them. I know they owed you big time. I just checked BBB it says all of the complaints were resolved. I might give it a try.

Glenn wrote on January 3, 2015, 10:29 PM

Thanks for this information. Shortly after Arvind annonced that they ran out of money, they canceled my three-month-old pending redemption without payment. So I will give this a try with the BBB. Thanks again. Can't hurt to try.

nbaquero wrote on January 4, 2015, 6:35 AM

Glenn It will not hurt you are correct. Just look at VinceSummers case, he was just paid a portion of a missing payment recently, and he attributes that, at least in part, to the cimplain filed with BBB.

Ruby3881 wrote on January 6, 2015, 5:43 AM

Was this one of those redemptions that had been cancelled originally? Or was it reduced by them before you sent your complaint? I have one pending that they've discounted by 60%. So I'm curious about their so-called reasoning. I'm wondering if a BBB claim might help in my case....

VinceSummers wrote on January 6, 2015, 8:00 AM

It was submitted November 12th. It was just ignored. I'm not sure about other details, though when I submitted it there was no specific statement I am aware of on reduction in pay per like and comment. Views were already put into the black box of secrecy.

Ruby3881 wrote on January 7, 2015, 12:42 PM

In my case, they went back into my bank page and edited the history so that my $91 payment was now showing a value of $28. The only reason I know they went back and changed it, is because I kept screen shots. They paid out overnight, at the lower rate.

If I file with BBB, I'll be asking for the full amount I was promised when I submitted the request. Bubblews was aware of the fraud artificially inflating our statistics when the earnings in question were accrued. It was their responsibility to set the rate at a sustainable level, not mine. They can't retroactively change that rate just because they can't afford to pay everyone who redeemed for that period. Not and keep their BBB accreditation.

peachpurple wrote on January 14, 2015, 6:41 AM

thanks, but will it work for malaysian writers at bubblews?

nbaquero wrote on January 14, 2015, 11:55 AM

peachpurple Well, that is a good question, but as I said before, you can always try and if it doesn't work, at least you have created awareness of their misleading practices.
