Am I a FLOP as a FOPP?

It's been almost a week since I've posted anything here at Persona Paper. As I review the goals of the Friends of Persona Paper Challenge (FOPP), I realize I haven't met a single one of them this month.

On one hand, shame on me. I sought to be a role model, but have fallen off the short pedestal on which I'd placed myself. I am merely mortal, after all. : )

But I am yet proud to be part of the FOPP challenge. Every moment is a new one, with new possibilities and opportunities to dust myself off and begin working toward the goals of the challenge once again. I hope that anyone who has considered taking up the FOPP challenge, or has already done so, will feel encouraged to know that it's our progress toward the goals that really matters -- not necessarily reaching one or more. It's a process.

Although I haven't been present much onsite recently, I have been promoting Persona Paper and its members on the new social media site, Tsu. I also continue to do the same on Twitter, Pinterest and to a lesser extent, Facebook. I don't know that these efforts equal participation here, but I do believe that if nothing else, such promotions get the name of Persona Paper in front of the eyes of many potential members and readers.

It's been my motto unofficially for a while, but I'm making it official now: Onward and Upward, Together!

There's only so much ANY of us can do and we each have to do what we are best at.

Kasman wrote on November 20, 2014, 2:28 PM

If you are a flop as a fopp then so am I! I will admit that I don't post as often as I should and that I have kinda let my Persona Paper Pinterest page fall by the wayside (I don't think it was attracting many view anyway) but, as MegL says, there is only so much we can do.

melody23 wrote on November 20, 2014, 3:14 PM

I haven't been very active this month either, lots going on and I am still forgetting to tag my posts!

Ellis wrote on November 20, 2014, 3:27 PM

Same here...the recent interest in Tsu seeme to have had a bit of a negative effect here...I hope that's only temporary...

WordChazer wrote on November 20, 2014, 3:38 PM

I just lost the plot tonight. I have 8 x 400 word articles to write before the end of the weekend. I'm not going to be around here much, what with eBay, my client and the rest of the articles...

I wouldn't worry about being a failure, if I was you. It sounds like I am far more likely to flunk it than you!

SLGarcia wrote on November 20, 2014, 3:40 PM

Very well said - I'm in the exact same position as you are. Have to admit I would love to see things pick up here.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:20 PM

In many ways, I wrote this post to help anyone else who is struggling to reach the goals of the challenge to know that there are others of us in the same position.
Thank you for your understanding and encouragement. : ) It's one of my favorite parts of being a FOPPer or even just a member of Persona Paper -- the camaraderie I feel between so many of us.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:24 PM

I don't think ANY of us are flops -- I agree with you and MegL and others who fully understand there are only 24 hours in each day and individually we must make best use of our time.

For any and all members of FOPP and those who might be considering joining the challenge, I hope you'll see this is just a process that keeps like-minded folks traveling similar roads to get to the same place. Perhaps this month will be a banner month for you, but not for several others. It doesn't matter -- just do the best you can.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:26 PM

And I haven't even bothered to chase after you with a wet noodle when you forget your tags. : )

I can't help but think that some of the motivation that has been lost here is due to two factors: Many PP members joining Tsu and having their time consumed there and/or learning the the increase in earning coins here has been postponed for a bit longer.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:27 PM

Me, too, Ellis and I plan to do what I am able to increase my presence here.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:29 PM

That's just the thing, though, WordChazer -- we can't flunk because we do the best we can. I hope your other business ventures are successful for you and look forward to when you are able to post and interact here.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:31 PM

I know that I can't single-handedly make a difference in the activity of the entire site, but I do believe I can get back to nearly the same activity level I was at but a few weeks ago. Time will tell, and we all will do the best we are able. : )

bestwriter wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:38 PM

So far atleast I have never felt the need for a 'challenge to post' here at Persona as I am kind of doing it regularly and hope to continue that way.

melody23 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:42 PM

Someone really does need to chase me for it, I could do without the wet noodle though!

I agree that the motivation here doesn't seem to be what it was, I don't know if Tsu is to blame or not, I am not doing too much there to be honest I just have lots going on in real life, perhaps others are the same. I do think that the exchange increase will have had an effect though, people will be wondering if it is ever going to happen, which I am sure it will when the time is right.

Feisty56 wrote on November 20, 2014, 6:57 PM

I don't know that I see the challenge as a need as much as a desire to participate. Not everyone wants to be involved in such activities, so there has never been any intention of pushing people to do so.

You've developed a solid presence here on Persona Paper and that's really what is important.

bestwriter wrote on November 20, 2014, 7:03 PM

This site suits me perfectly. It is well designed that makes posting easy and convenient. And the best part is I have those that I enjoy connecting with.

AliCanary wrote on November 20, 2014, 9:10 PM

Girl, don't you worry about that. I just like to see you here and to read your posts and comments, and that's that.

paperdaisyflower7 wrote on November 20, 2014, 9:18 PM

that's why I can't accept the challenge either I can just keep posting and commenting as much as I can

Dawnwriter wrote on November 21, 2014, 12:50 AM

Don't feel bad. Every post, comment, promotion and any other activity that you can do helps so don't blame yourself if you can't be here regularly. I think all FOPP should be proud of themselves.

idyll wrote on November 21, 2014, 12:56 AM

i read your post at two times but I can't figure out the word "Flop". Could you explain it to me?

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 21, 2014, 1:22 AM

I haven't posted much here either in the last week. I can blame a little of Tsu, but I've slacked there the last couple of days, too. There is so much going on right now in the real world that it's hard just keeping up with my daily minimums online. Hopefully things will slow down after the holidays.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 21, 2014, 1:24 AM

To flop (verb) means to fail or fall short. To be a flop (noun) is to be a person who fails.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 21, 2014, 1:28 AM

I'm very motivated to build my content on Persona Paper. I just need another 36 hours in my days and a boat load more energy. Right now I'm so tired, I had to read the questions on a survey 2 or 3 times just to slog through it. I don't dare post something with this little amount of coherency at the moment. It's past bedtime. I'll do it tomorrow. Good night, all.

FreyaYuki wrote on November 21, 2014, 3:03 AM

I also haven't been very active here lately since I've been busy. I've been hearing a lot about Tsu. What can you say about it? Some are recommending it but others say it's not really a good site and the pay isn't good either. What are your thoughts on Tsu?

BarbRad wrote on November 21, 2014, 3:32 AM

I've been pretty lax since joining tsu myself. It's really hard to do it all. I have seen your efforts to promote this site, though, and I hope as we keep posting there, we will get more people here.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:33 AM

I hope that real life is being kind to you and Guiness. : )

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:34 AM

Persona Paper is a great site and the community here is excellent.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:35 AM

Awww, thank you, AliCanary . : )

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:39 AM

It's your activity and enjoyment of the site and the interaction here that is the most important aspect. Part of my purpose in writing this post was to help others see that reaching the goals of the challenge isn't as important as the camaraderie of the challenge itself. But whether you are part of the challenge or not, you and every writer here is an important asset to the site and to the community itself. : )

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:42 AM

I agree with you, Dawnwriter , and I also think that all writers and community members here should hold their heads high. Persona Paper is a great site with what I hope to be an increasingly bright future -- and it will a joint effort between management and members who take us there.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:45 AM

I hear you loud and clear on this issue. The fact that we can't build more hours into the day nor artificially inflate our energy levels means we can only accomplish so much.

I don't know if my recent flagging mental/emotional energy is due to the change in season or just there without explanation, but I'll certainly be glad when my "energy packs" are full again.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:56 AM

I am enjoying my experience at Tsu. It's not a get rich quick site for most people, but others are doing fairly well. I average about $0.20/day earnings. My thoughts are that anything i make at Tsu is more than I would make on any other social media site, since they don't pay anything. In just over a month, Tsu has over a million members.

I think the fairest thing to say is that you have to experience it for yourself to determine its usefulness for you. If you post original content and interact with others socially, you'll reap the most benefits there. Since it is free to join, you have nothing to lose but your time in trying it out. You can join there through any of the many of us who are already there (you can find many of the Tsu user names in Ruby3881 posts/comments) join through mine, Feisty56, or any of your other friends who are already there.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:58 AM

Yes, that is my hope, too. Just getting Persona Paper's name out there before the eyes of many should help to increase both interest and familiarity with the site. Even if folks don't join right away, the site name and reputation will be in the back of minds for the future.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 9:59 AM

As a rule, I don't participate in many challenges either for the same reason.

celticeagle wrote on November 21, 2014, 3:09 PM

I guess people have to do what they can and hope that that works. Camaraderie is a nice and I have felt that here.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 21, 2014, 3:20 PM

Earning is very slow to start off, but I think there is a lot of potential for residual earnings down the road. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying it as a way to promote my writing, to interact with writer friends and find some of their work on other sites that I otherwise wouldn't have known about, and make a little money doing the same thing I do on Facebook. It's going to be great once more people join.

Feisty56 wrote on November 21, 2014, 10:05 PM

I love the community here -- there's a great bunch of folks.

Glenn wrote on November 22, 2014, 1:20 PM

Well, I haven't started yet as I am waiting for approval. But I am quite active leaving comments in various posts. I find that PP provides a very encouraging method of engagement. Even though I am not posting articles here yet, I keep thinking that I should save many of my comments to post as articles instead. But then I just go ahead and send the comment anyway, as I am doing with this one. Either way, I see I get a coin for it. How neat is that?

So, having said all that, and getting to the point of the Friends of Persona Paper Challenge, I already feel that I'm not FLOPing, LOL. But once I get passed the "pending" status and start writing articles, then I will determine if I'm a FOPP for the challenge.

Feisty56 wrote on November 22, 2014, 4:59 PM

Hi Glenn! It's great to see you here. : ) This is a wonderful community, supportive of one another and with a good sense of humor. I'm looking forward to your posting here.

Ruby3881 wrote on November 23, 2014, 2:56 AM

Wow! You're really smoking on Tsu, Deb! My highest earning day so far has been 13 cents, but it is climbing every day. Even my teenaged daughter is seeing an increase in her earnings after only about a week on the site. As you say, it's the kind of site a person really needs to experience....

celticeagle wrote on November 23, 2014, 6:44 PM

They really are an interesting bunch.
