An Update on Debbi the Dental Drama Queen, by Guiness the Cat

This is Guiness the Cat. I just wanted to let you know that Debbi is back from the endodontist with all the teeth she left home with, but not nearly as much money.

The dentist made a small incision in her gum to scrape out all the infection around her abscessed tooth, but he said that she has lost so much bone it doesn't look optimistic that she will get to keep the tooth. It depends on how well the gums heal and whether or not the infection comes back.

She goes back to see him right before Thanksgiving, and then again in six months. In the meantime, we'll see.

Debbi said the procedure didn't hurt nearly as much as paying for it.

She is supposed to eat cold or lukewarm (not hot) foods today, so she picked up a few things on the way home. Her Novocain is starting to wear off, so I gave her some ibuprofen.

In a little while, I'm going to let her fix herself something to nibble on, then I'll put her in the recliner, cover her up, turn on the TV, and sit on her. I'm sure that will make her feel much better. Right now, I have to go. I need to go get her ice pack out of the freezer and have her put it back on. Then I need to check my inbox for any emails about my second job taking cat litter surveys. Maybe I'll have some cat food products tests to do before Debbi spends all my hard-earned money cat food money on her teeth!

A cat's work is never done.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat, Writer, Professional Cat Litter Survey Taker, Leaf Salesman, and Nurse

glad everything went well for Debbie.

It's nice of you to help Debbie when she isn't feeling too good. A trip to a dentist is on my list of 'worst nightmare things to do' - just below 'being forced to be nice to cats'. LOL

Well, it's a good thing you're there to help your hooman - Puddin'

my Mom had a Doctor Dog who stayed by her side and licked her fears and pain away. her name was Doctor Dog Lady Marion. 'm so happy your taking good care of your patient Nurse Guiness the Cat... you deserve a big reward!

Hope you don't suffer too much (well, not at all actually) when the novocain wears off...

Guiness, I'm sure Debbi has $ put back to take care of you, her pride and joy. You make an excellent nurse, by the way.

Guiness, I sure hope Debbi Feels Better Soon. Please keep taking good care of her.

This is Guiness the Cat. Everything went well but the checkout. Turns out what the lady said really wasn't nine dollars and fifty cents like Debbi hoped she meant.

This is Guiness the Cat. I happen to be an angel.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 14, 2014, 3:01 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Yeah, she's pretty helpless. And the name is Sweet Pud.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 14, 2014, 3:09 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. I could definitely do with more treats.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 14, 2014, 3:13 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. She's doing pretty good, just a little sore. She's taken ibuprofen, but she hasn't really needed all that much. I think she might be a little swollen, and her cheek might be a little bruised. It mostly hurts in the bank account.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 14, 2014, 3:17 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. She paid for my dental drama, so it's only fair that I help out with hers. But I'm going to have to do a whole lot more cat litter surveys to pay for all of it. And as an excellent nurse, I thought it very important to sit on her and keep her warm. I do think it would have made her feel better if she would have shared her yogurt with me. She can keep the mashed potatoes. I'm on a low carb diet.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 14, 2014, 3:20 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. I will. I really think we need to redo that part of the treatment where I get in her face and stare at her while she eats yogurt. That wasn't very successful the first time.

I love the whimsical Guiness The Cat. I would read anything by this guy :)

OldRoadsOnceTraveled You are a good cat. You do help her out very much. I think she will be fine and everything will work out. You will get your cat food. But she comes first here. She does for you to. So, take care of Debbi.

This is Guiness the Cat. Aww, you're so sweet.

This is Guiness the Cat. I am a very good cat. Most of the time.

I really fear the dentist but I know I need to see one soon.

BarbRad wrote on November 14, 2014, 10:19 PM

Good luck with that.

BarbRad wrote on November 14, 2014, 10:20 PM

That it does.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 15, 2014, 7:30 PM

This is Guiness the Cat. Debbi doesn't mind going to the dentist. It's just the paying part that bothers her.

celticeagle wrote on November 16, 2014, 12:53 AM

I have had a abscessed tooth for about two years now. That is how much I like dentists. My doctor will give me antibiotics if I beg. This last one was full of liquid and it was nasty. I even made an appointment with a dentist but called and cancelled. Ugh! Hope yours is better now.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 16, 2014, 12:56 AM

My jaw is still a little sore, but I'm okay.

celticeagle wrote on November 16, 2014, 1:48 AM

That is sure good to hear. I am sure I would be traumatized for a good month afterwards. lol

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on November 16, 2014, 8:02 PM

Don't wait. I don't know how long I had this abscess (it didn't hurt, and I wouldn't have noticed it if the swelling hadn't felt like food stuck by my gum), but it ate away most of the bone around my tooth, so I don't know if I will be able to salvage the tooth or not.
