Visit Angkor Wat of Cambodia in your Christmas Holidays...

Legends say that Angkor Wat was a temple constructed by the orders of Indra, a God, so that his son, Precha Ket Melea, would have a palace.

It was also said the same temple was built within one night by only one architect, said to be divine. This temple was once a Hindu temple before permanently becoming a Buddhist temple.

The name literally means City of Temples in the Khmer language, as Angkor means “city” while Wat means “temple.” It is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Angkor Wat has been restored by by the year 1986 and finished 1992.

Ever since then, has increased by a massive number, and up until today, efforts for conserving the temple are still ongoing.

This temple is absolutely beautiful, and I especially love the way it reflects off the water.

it's amazing and mind-boggling how all these beautiful temples could be built in just one night. the architect who designed all these temples is a true genius!

ashuli That is a wonderful picture and a nice story. It is too far for me, but I hope one day I can personally admire this City of Temples.

My dad visited that place many years ago. I have some temple rubbings from there. I also have a fat book of photos from the place, which I bought in 1975.

It is hot and dry in Cambodia. Have to drink a lot of water.

I was there in 2012. It was very hot, but I really enjoyed the time that I spent there. I didn't see everything, but I visited the main temples, and I took a lot of pictures.
