Inbox by Gmail

Goodbye Gmail, welcome Inbox by Gmail .

Inbox by Gmail is Google's brand new app for iOS and Android devices as well as a web page at https://inbox.google.com.

It is accessible by invitation only. If you want to use it send an email to inbox@google.com and ask them to add you to the waiting list.

I sent my request on October 24th and received an invitation several minutes ago.

Your Personal Cross Platform Inbox

First you have to download, install and activate the app on a mobile device then you can also use it on the web. The interface is trying to be as similar as possible on all devices. Apart from cleaner interface you are awarded with new functionality like Reminders .

What's In Store?

Since I've only started using it minutes ago I can't tell you more about it. But I do hope that you are curious enough to try it for yourself. Are you?

Hmm, I have Gmail, don't know that I need to update yet. Too many of the email programs have been messing about with how they look and it's most annoying to find your email not working the way you expect!

You don't need to migrate. I guess that Gmail itself will eventually migrate into Inbox.

I suppose that they realised that the Gmail app for devices is not good enough and rather than improving on it they started anew and created this Inbox thingy.

Thanks for sharing this info. I don't know that I'll use it myself, but I've shared to social media to help spread the word.

Oh, that "invitation only" stuff is so lame. I remember when gmail was invitation-only, and so was G+. I wouldn't go to any trouble for this.

I don't use my phone much except for facebook and my gmail but I'm scared to download too many things

You are welcome and thank you very much. You are a dear.

In next days I will 'force' myself to use Inbox instead of Gmail so I can learn and see if the replacement is up to it.

:) You are right. It is their approach to make things 'hard to reach and more interesting'.

When starting with ages ago you had to be invited. Now you are weird if you don't have a Gmail account...

You are right not to put too much on the phone. I tried because Gmail app on phone really needed improvement.
