Modern art and modern heroes

It took about two years to build it, but when it was done it turned out to be more of an work of art than a functional building. I think that it is too small for the amount spend and for a museum destination.

I had fun moving with my camera around it and taking some pictures.

I felt that the building did not have enough of an striking look, so I took the liberty to dramatise its looks.

It is located in a park running along the River Road, the main street in East Lansing. However its style crashes with the traditional construction of the campus

The building style inspired some filmmaker to use the building as a backdrop in a movie with Super heros. I don't know what movie it is, but I know that for about a week or so, they built all sorts of additions to modify its looks to fit their purpose in the movie. It was quite an activity during the night when they filmed. The morning they were done shooting all the additions vanished and the funny looking building was restored to its original looks.

Beautiful photography but the building looks as if it will collapse or topple to its side any minute.

You are right, it is a building which defies gravity. This is the "modern concept",.

Great photos! I like some modern art, but this building, to me, seems as if it was merely different for the sake of being so.

Funny looking building is right! I'm not a fan of most 'modern' architecture.

I am into modern art, but not everything modern is art... The building is interesting as a concept, but I think the millions they got to build it could have been spent more wisely.

It is great to do some studies on it though!

It all depends who the architect is. Are you familiar with Frank Lloyd Wright, Philip Johnson, Le Corbusier, Antoni Gaudi or even Kalatrava, although he is to commercial for my taste?

That building looks unstable and ready to fall over. I guess that could be considered a dramatic effect. i personally think it's too extreme.

That is a striking looking building. I would love to see it for real

Wow, I must say... it looks creative. Just admiring the details and line details projected on the building.
Would you by any chance know which firm design this?

Does anybody have an idea, which movie will it be shown in?

I don't know who did it, but I can find out. I wanted to take pictures while building it, but they worked during the cold weather raising the structure, and that side of the road was closed. I did not feel like hovering across the street to fight the traffic to take pictures.

Thanks Crin.
Thanks for sharing this marvellous architecture.
