I Got Paid Today, And The Urge To Spend Is Enormous

Mind Over Money

I have a terrible tendency to want to spend money as soon as it hits my bank account. It is a problem that drives me to have less and less money at the end of the day. I think because my account is so low on funds to begin with most of the time, my brain wants to reward myself for having survived another week by spending money on something that is foolish and that I do not need. It is a bad habit to have of course, and I realize this, but it is something worth pointing out nonetheless.

What Are You Spending On?

Spending on oneself from time to time is not a matter that is terrible in and of itself. However, what the money is being spent on is something worth critical thought. I have a tendency to spend it on stupid things that only bring temporary joy or entertainment. I even have a bad habit of wanting to gamble some of that money in the hopes of a big score that will get me out of the bad money cycle that I all too often find myself trapped in. Considering the small amount of money that I make in the first place, this is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Today I am doing my very best to resist spending any of the money that has hit my account today as a result of being paid. It is funding that I desperately need for other things and that I cannot risk on flushing down the toilet.

When we are living from paycheck to paycheck it can be terribly tempting to sometimes squander what we can't afford to spend. I hope you're able to curb your feelings for instant gratification in favor of being able to play your bills.

My health insurance auto-pays tomorrow so there goes fifteen hundred dollars.

I am sort of like that but not every single paycheck I get. I love books so that is one temptation that I always have to conquer.

I was an impulsive spender too before but now I realize it's not a good habit , so I stop and control myself of over spending.

I have $189 sitting in my paypal and it is driving me nuts to not be able to spend it. Lol. Priorities. That is our holiday grocery money.

I know how much money I have to pay the necessary bills. Those keep me from being frivolous. After I pay the mortgage, utilities, but the food, pay medical bills, I can think about fun stuff.
