What is Art Anyway?

Whenever I think of art, it is always the idea of going to an art gallery to look at paintings or a museum to see different types of sculptures. You know, da Vinci and Picasso? That was always my idea of what art is. Kids always take art classes throughout their school years. I took drawing in high school and I loved it at that time. In fact, I still have my sketch book from back then and I wasn't too bad at all.

However, there are so many different forms of art. Having your own imaginative ideas and bringing them all together to create something fantastic is a form of art. I used to cross stitch a lot and even though that is considered a craft, it really is like art because you are creating a picture out of a piece of fabric and floss. Besides, arts and crafts do get put in the same category.

Music is a form of art as well, and so is dance. What is your favorite form of art?

When I think of Art it's the guy named Art that works at the hardware store down the street.

Hahahaha Yes, I remember that my older sister had a boyfriend named Art, too!

Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Much modern art is, to my mind, total rubbish.

Art: "I don't know a thing about art. I just know what I like." Shared.

Unlike you, I was never good at art in school. I believed my mother who used to say, "I was never any good at art, so you won't be either!" It's a shame, because I never tried at it and like anything, practice is what is needed The thought of art galleries sends a shudder down my back, I have been dragged round those and they are NOT a favourite place of mine to go. Taking photographs, playing around with them in a graphics program on the computer, printing them and framing is my idea of "Art".

Art centres round creativity. Creating something that contributes to beauty. Ofcourse beauty lies as they say in the eyes of the beholder :)

I love the art in a bowl, and I found your post from a share that Dawnwriter did on tsu, if you're interested. I've done both art and crafts. I used to enjoy batiking, which is using dyes and wax to make wall hanging and things like that. I've done many other things too in my youth, now my art or craft is writing. Not much time for anything else right now.

I consider photography a form of art. I really enjoy it as well. I also do a little art journaling but I'm not very good at it.
