Grand Rapids Michigan

Grand Rapids, Michigan has a lot of new buildings, however it is an old town with a long history and one can still find the Art Deco era very well represented.

Here is an Art Deco decoration from one of the buildings.

This is another one of the Art Deco constructions. Very traditional with the Indian decoration.

A detail if the indian mark of the Art Deco typical elements.

Yes, this is another one of those roaring twenties buildings which now is turned into a residential place. Very desired location downtown Grand Rapids.

This picture was taken from very close so I was forced to use fisheye lens. It is distorted, however one can see the rich design on the front elevation.

My father-in-law was an architect and designed some pretty famous building in Serbia, where he lived over half his life before emigrating to Canada when his life was threatened.

That would be a great place to visit in Michigan since I do like Art Deco architecture.

It would be nice, but if you have the chance go to Detroit. That is the Art Deco Town!

Yes they are, but not that many. If you want to see Art Deco complete, Detroit is the place!

I'm not sure i know what distinguishes Art Deco Style. I will share a photo sometime. his building was constructed before World War 2, in case that would tell you anything.

Good pictures indeed. India is a place to see rock carvings dating back to 100 BC. Every town will have something to show. Here is a link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_rock-cut_architecture Every temple in India specially the ancient ones have carvings. There is one temple with thousand pillars and each pillar has intricate carvings. http://www.gounesco.com/1000-pillar-temple/
