Electric leaf blowers blasting my serenity. Get a rake.

There should be an open season on people who use electric leaf blowers in the USA. Imagine the sound of a hair drier times one hundred. This is my last day at my campsite because it closes for the season tomorrow. The day is sunny, cool and clear, a near-perfect experience except for the guy across the way with the leaf blower. The whining noise put out by these devices is enough to drive you up the wall and back down again.
If you are one of those people chasing a single leaf across your pock-marked driveway just consider for a moment that your neighbors are contemplating your end of days.
They still make rakes, give it a shot.

We used to have a neighbour who would be out mowing his lawn every Sunday morning at 9 am - just as my wife and I were, err, umhh, well you know! Most annoying!

I can't stand them, nor the sprays they usually have for getting rid of weeds but are bad for wildlife, not to mention cats.

Never really seen the point of these things...given half an hour and a reasonable breeze and the ground is covered again...

I absolutely loathe leaf-blowers; they are the worst-sounding things. I don't mind lawnmowers, trimmers, or even chainsaws as much as blowers. I actually like to rake leaves, so I try to get out there and do that before my husband fires up that infernal blower. At least I make him wear hearing protection!

I woke up to my neighbors doing that at 8am. I was beyond upset because I went to sleep around 4. Insomnia sucks.. lol

Can't even escape them at your campsite? That is sad indeed.

Well it's 10pm and there is finally silence.

I hate those too. Some people use them to blow a light layer of snow off the sidewalk. It doesn't look efficient!

I'm with you. In an age when most people don't get enough exercise and we are supposed to be conserving energy there is not excuse for using these contraptions that disturb the piece. Raking leaves used to be a peaceful activity, but now if even you rake your own leaves, your neighbor can ruin the experience of the peace you could be enjoying while doing it.

Scorpio that's why when I go camping, I usually bring a pair of ear muffs along with me and carry a pitch fork in my hand, not just to stir up the cinders in my camp fire. But to also let my camping neighbors know how I feel about noisy devices that are meant to be left at home. They pretty much get the idea!

If you have to rake leaves for a living, you will think differently.

Electric leaf blowers are just daft. All they do is blow 'em somewhere else until the wind blows 'em back.

I swear I have watched a guy chase 1 leaf across the driveway.

Even better. Let the leaves blow away on their own. It works for me. I live on a slope. GRIN.

Ha! That's a hoot. I once had a neighbor tell me he picked up eleven bags of leaves. He does not have one tree in his yard.
