Physical Therapy in the Morning

I have to be up early in the morning to drive to the neighboring city to see my physical therapist. I'm not crazy over early morning appointments but I am excited to go to PT every time because i know it means I'm getting one step closer to walking again after having my accident. For those who don't know, a couple months ago, I broke both of the bones in my lower leg. I had surgery and a metal rod put in and I have not been able to walk since. We have to allow things to heal from surgery before I start putting weight on the leg or it can shift things out of place. They also want the bone to start to heal well before putting any weight on it or it can shift apart where the healing is happening.

Every PT appointment is fun because I get new exercises to learn to do and I can see where my progress is from the previous appointment and know that I am getting better, even if I cannot walk yet.

Wow! That photo shows they're really got your leg covered and supported. how do you sleep at night n all that? How do you get around to go to physical therapy and just around the house? Walker? Wheelchair? There's a post idea for you.

oh...sorry to hear that you had an accident. wish you for speedy recovery and be back to normal and step on the ground again.

The accident was no fun but I was glad that even if you are suffering and facing a difficult phase in your life, you still face it with enthusiasm and full of positivity. :)

Well, you also have those nifty crutches you can use to "accidentally" whack people you over-hear saying dumb things. Get well soon.

I love it but I always hurt afterwards, of course. They have this cool anti-gravity treadmill I should be able to use next time. hehe

Good ideas for a post indeed. I can take the boot off at night now. I used to have to sleep in it and it was a pain. I use crutches and wheelchairs at the doctor appointments. I don't go out in public yet, not until I can start weight-bearing.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it.

I'm sorry to hear that about your dad. Some people are stubborn. My surgeon said if I wanted to have hopes of running again one day, I need to do exactly what they said in physical therapy so that's my goal. :)

Thank you tigress I appreciate that. It's been a long road and long more to go but I'll keep smiling through it.

hehe That's one of the best parts. :D And I can yell and kids and say "Get off my lawn!" while waving them around.

leg injuries can complicate things but with your attitude on pt things should go really well and before you know it you will be walking again
