Why do women do that?

Last night I told my husband that I'm going to get a perm today. He looked at me strangely and said, "Doesn't your hair look good already? Straight, perm, color, straight, perm again! Why do you do that?"

Men wouldn't probably understand that our hair is our crowning glory. Changing my hairstyle now and then is my joy. I easily get bored with the same hairstyle and I often change it every 6 months or so. A change of hairstyle can totally change the way I feel and look. I feel like a new person each time I do and it makes me happy. I get tired of looking at the mirror with the same hairstyle again and again.

I hardly go out of the house nowadays and when I do, it's usually for a business meeting. I guess that's the reason why my husband thought I didn't have to take care of myself because there's nobody to show it off to. However, he doesn't understand that making myself look better is not for others to see. It's for me to feel good about myself!

I agree , I do it to make myself feel good about myself. It is fun to experiment with different hair styles.

Your husband is wrong I am afraid. Actually I dress up to please myself and no other. You are doing the same. :)

I comb my hair once and a while and it looks pretty good. I try not to make a habit of it because I'm concerned about generating static electricity.

It's fun and it's uplifting to make a change now and then. I'm not sure what it is about many people, but we just don't seem to be happy with what we have -- we want what we have not. Then we get it and it's time to make a change again. lol

Hence the reason I keep a bald 'do. No fuzz, no maintenance, no problem!!! LOL!

I love getting new hairstyles but I think many procedures harm the hair in long run. I want my hair to lat till my old age so I do not color it or use hot iron too much now.

It's your hair. Since you honestly state it's for your own enjoyment, fine. I think he's just worried about the money. But, no problem, you make your own money.

I have to admit, I'm one of those women who never wears makeup and my idea of "doing my hair" is brushing it and pulling it back into a pony tail, lol. But I do know a lot of woman who enjoy getting their hair, nails, etc. done. It gives them the same boost it gives me to complete a two page to do list in one day, lol.

Yes, our hair is important. Not all men get that. My man does. He actually worries more about his hair than I do mine. I would love to get a perm. But I got one years ago and it broke my hair. Now I am afraid of them.

Yes, it makes us feel like a new person each time :)

OH yes I am. I don't dress to impress, I dress to feel good about myself. That's how it should be, I believe. :)

Use a brush instead of a comb. There are brushes right now that are really great and doesn't produce static. They're pricey though.

Hahahaha, it's because we never get satisfaction at all. People are greedy by nature I guess. :)

Hahahaha, my husband too! That's why he never understands me. He doesn't have hair.

That's wonderful. However, there are a lot of treatment nowadays that could bring back the hair how it used to be when we were born. The catch: IT'S EXPENSIVE! So not unless one has really a lot of money to spend on hair treatments then I guess they should stay away from chemical styling.

True I make my own money and it's the least of his concern. He just think it's weird how I change my hairstyle often and he doesn't see the need of it. Most men don't anyway.

I used to be like that until a cousin who was a nun, told me I should take care of myself and not only of my son and my husband. Coming from a nun, it was a big blow hahaha.

I spend a lot of money on hair treatment. I make sure not to have damaged hair. It would be depressing. That's the bad side of frequently styling hairs, we have to spend too much money on treating it.

I don't know why some people feel that looking good is only for others to see. Get up, get dressed, and "show up" whether you're going out or just working at the computer. Get dressed includes "fixin'" your hair. You need to feel good about yourself whether you're going out or staying in!

That is so right! Confidence is everything and when one feels good, one can be confident! Have a happy new year.
