Introduction for BabyTeacher
Hi. My name is Maggie and I am a career preschool teacher currently working with infants. If you give me a soapbox, I will go on at length about the importance of quality, affordable programs for early childhood. Sometimes that means children being with a caregiver other than parents for part of the time, and sometimes it means educating parents who are with their children full time to be the best possible parent they can be.
When not working with infants, I volunteer in a homework tutoring program at my church, take classes to stay current in my career, and write all kinds of everything. Currently, much of that is early childhood pieces for the internet, but I do still write the occasional poem and sporadically work on my novel.
I also have a lot of fun on weekends with my small party business as a face painter. Since I still have a "day job" and don't want every weekend filled with work, this is really more like a hobby that pays for itself and allows me to donate my service to groups near and dear to my heart.
One of my goals to achieve before the end of this year is to create, and hopefully maintain, a blog with stories about all the cakes I have decorated over the years. Between this, that, and the other, I manage to keep myself pretty busy, but there is always time for curling up in a comfy chair with a good book.
