Freesia --- A Bell Shaped Flower...

The name of this has come from the name of Friedrich Heinrich Freese. The flower looks like a bell with the sides shaped like a funnel. It has a fragrance similar to a citrus fruit.

It symbolizes grace, innocence and friendship. It is found mostly in the southern parts of Africa like South Africa and the southern part of Kenya. Most of the species grow in the Cape Province of South Africa alone.

The flower has six sepals instead of petals which can have a combination of pink, yellow and white colors or individual yellow and white colors. It is the flower of an herbaceous plant and there are some hybrid varieties that are cultivated for ornamental purposes.
