Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, however, green tea is becoming increasingly popular due to many health benefits. Green tea may help with cancer, improve the function of the brain, and weight loss along with many other things. Here is a list of health benefits found in green tea.

1.Bioactive CompoundsThe bioactive compounds in green tea many offer many nuttitional benefits and manage to make it into the beverage after being extracted from leaves. One bioactive compounds found in green tea is polyphenols such as flavonoids and catechins; polyphenols also work well as antioxidants. Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) is another antioxident found in green tea, the antioxident is one of most useful components of green tea and might be the reason the drink has medicinal properties.

2. Improve Brain FunctionGreen tea is not just used to shed a few pounds it can make you smarter. Green tea can improve a persons brain because of caffine (green tea has less caffine then coffee). Caffine block a inhibitory nerotransmitter called Adenosine, in addition more neurons are released and other substances like dopamine and morepineohrine (neurotransmitters) are increased as well. Caffine is credited for helping several areas of the brain, improving mood, vigilance, reaction time and memory.

L-theanine is an amino acid that has the ability cross blood-brain barrier, also helps improve the function of the brain. L-theanine increases the function of inhibitory neurotransmitters GABA which help with anti-anxiety effects, dopamine and the production of alpha waves in the brain are increased as well.
Last but not least, caffine and L-theanine work together and work together and have a synergistis effect in the brain, the duo is also the reason a persons brain fuction inproves.

3. Weight LossIt's no secret that green tea has been used as weight loss product for several years. Green tea is a great product in this department because it has been proven to speed up fat burning and increase metabolic rates in humans, however, this may depend on the individual as well. In closing the caffine in green tea also helps in this department. Caffine helps with physical performance and weigh because the green tea mobilize fatty acids that will be turned into energy. Last but not least, oxidation in the tea has helped increase the burning of fat as well.

CancerMany people around the world are at risk or developing cancer due to family history, if you fall into this catergory green tea may help you, below are two types of cancers that may be prolonged due to green tea. Green tea helps reduce the changes of human beings developing certain cancers because of it's antioxidants.
Breast CancerBreast cancer is the most common type of cancer that affect women, it has been proven (through a meta-analysis of observatioal studies) that women that drank green tea on a regular basis had a 22% chance of not developing breast cancer.

Prostate CancerProstate cancer is the most common form of cancer that men, in a study where men drank green tea had a 48% change of not developing prostate cancer.

5. Dental Health and Risk Of InfectionsNow this maybe a first for some people, but green tea may improve your dental health and reduce certain infections; this is possible due to catechins. Studies have shown that the catechins in green tea can kill bacteria caused by viruses, influenza is an example. One bacteria that is harmful to mouth is streptococcus mutans, this bacteria is the reason for plaque formation and is the leading cause cavities and your teeth falling out.
