Introduction for Ldyjarhead

Marie Anne is a retired Marine MSgt, having served more than 21 years, mother of two, grandmother of one (with another on the way!). She loves to crochet, read, garden, and tend to her critter family which now consists of three dogs, various cats, and five chickens who provide breakfast for her every morning. When not sitting at the computer, you can find Marie Anne walking off the pounds, or watching TV with crochet hook in hand. She sells some of her works, but also donates much of it to a number of different charities. While she loves pasta and pizza and has never met anything chocolate that she didn't like, she's had to push those aside in favor of low-carb foods in an effort to keep diabetes at bay.

Pizza and chocolate are my two favorite foods. In fact, when I refuse to eat pizza my family knows that I am sick or something is really wrong. I hope you like the site. I can't wait to read more of your posts.

Hi MA! Can't wait to read more of your animal and crochet stories. Pasta and pizza...yum!

I've missed you! I haven't been getting your submissions in my notification stream even though I'm following you at that other place, so I haven't seen any of your posts in awhile. It's so good to see you here. You're going to love a lot of things about Persona Paper.

Didn't know you were a Marine...that is amazing and thank you from the bottom of my heart for serving and keep us safe. I am from a military family and so is my husband. Dad served in the Army for 50 years, CSM - my brother couldn't join for medical reasons, but was a LT in the Naval Sea Cadets to help those who wanted to join to get a taste of what it could be like before they signed up. My husband was a CPO in the Navy and served for 21 years. My father-in-law, both brother-in-laws and a few cousins were in the Army, Navy and Marines. I was part of the Navy League since I couldn't pass the initial physical because of my disabilities which I knew ahead of time and decided to serve in other ways that would help those whose could join and put in 12 years doing all sorts of things from the East to West coasts. I too am also a chocolate lover but watch and eat everything in moderation so as I get younger with the age number going up, and up, and up I won't have any issues to worry about.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled if you go to my profile on that 'other place', you'll see several posts with my complaints about how connections are no longer still connected even though you show as following. It's crazy.

Welcome to Persona Paper. Something I have often wondered - why are marines known as 'Jarheads'?

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on October 17, 2014, 1:16 AM

I don't get submission notifications from BarbRad there, either, and it drives me nuts. I'm sure there are tons of others that I'm not aware of that don't show up. I'm trying to be more proactive in seeking out the ones who are left.

Ldyjarhead wrote on October 17, 2014, 8:32 AM

You have to unfollow and then follow again in order to get the notifications. For those of us who left for a while, we are disconnected from people we followed early on. Even though it shows you as being connected, you won't get notifications. And that's the tough part because if you look at the profile and see that you're connected, you don't know that you're really not. Unfollow/follow will push it back through.

Nice to meet you. I have a dear friend that was a Marine, but not for as long as you were.
