Continental Divide on Loveland Pass, CO

The Continental Divide / Rocky Mountains
Mountain Majesty - Colorado
A snowboarder hikes the crest of the mountain peak, ready for the ride of their life. The Colorado air is cool and crisp. Go ahead, take in a nice slow breath. Let your worries fade away like the echos of the valley. The skies are healthy here... and clear.. and blue.
Gazing over the Rocky Mountains at 11,990 feet, is the glorious views and dynamic terrain of Loveland Pass rides over the crest of the Continental Divide. Connecting I-70 to the Ski Resorts of A-Basin and Keystone, US HWY 6 was the only and most treacherous attempt through the winding mountains that any early traveler would drive anxiously, yet honest.
Today, Highway 6 is a well maintained and spectacular look into the glory that Colorado has to offer. Only closed on major weather winter snow days, Loveland Pass is open and available to traverse, ski, or snowboard at your own back country risk.
Back Country Skiers, Snowboarders, and Hikers are extreme!
Continental Divide
The Continental Divide is the ridge that runs through North America determining where water source will ultimately end up. Whether in the Gulf of Mexico, or the Pacific ocean, and despite common myth, it does not always run at the highest elevation peaks of the mountains. Height doesn't matter, just where the water will end up does. It is the North American watershed.
Maintained by the US Department of Agriculture, back country skiers are warned of Avalanche Blasting at Any time by means of Long Range Military Weaponry. Please back country enthusiast, seriously, Avalanches and Avalanche maintenance is something to really keep in mind.
