Unique Indoor Decorating Ideas for Halloween

It is easy to go to the store and buy all the Halloween decorations you could possibly need. However, half the neighborhood will probably end up with the exact same decorations. There are dozens of unique ways you can decorate the interior of your house for the spooky holiday. You don't even have to use your imagination to come up with ideas; I have come up with five unique indoor decorating ideas for Halloween to share with you.

1. No-carve pumpkins

There are tons of ways you can decorate pumpkins without carving them. Draw on them with a black marker instead. Or, paint them with fun colors. Try metallic spray paint, or cover them in colored glitter. Got scraps of ribbon or paper? Use those scraps to decorate your no-carve pumpkins for Halloween.

2. Candle and pumpkin centerpiece

Make a simple table centerpiece with a shallow dish, a large pillar candle and some small pumpkins or gourds. Center the candle in the dish and surround it with the gourds. For mine, I simply centered a candle on a fall-inspired place mat and surrounded it with tiny, fake pumpkins scattered around the mat.

3. Pumpkin candy dish

A real pumpkin would be too wet to fill with candy, but an artificial pumpkin makes a great bowl for storing your Halloween treats. Cut the pumpkin in half horizontally and line the inside of the dish with patterned fabric. Fill it with candy and place the top back on or leave it off.

4. Spooky silhouettes

Give the illusion of Halloween spooks with black silhouettes on the walls. Cut out shadows and silhouettes of scary creatures from black paper to attach to the walls. Don't forget to make some for the windows and staircase, as well.

5. Coordinating table runners and centerpieces

It can be hard to find the perfectly unique table runner and centerpiece in stores, but it is easy to make your own. You may find it easiest to find your centerpiece first, then to make a table runner with coordinating fabric. A few ideas include: haunted house with bats, spiders and webs, pumpkins with a basic black and orange runner....

You've got some good ideas here. I don't really fancy carving pumpkins any longer, but some of these other ideas would work well.

I guess I should go down the basement and find my two jack 0 lantern candle holders. Might as well get a couple of weeks use out of them.
The pumpkin center piece sounds cute.

You have some great ideas here, but I don't use real pumpkins any longer for decoration. I buy the foam carveable pumpkins that you can use year after year.
