My Youngest Daughter Turned 10 Today

My youngest daughter turned 10 today, and coincidentally it would also have been my Mom's 96th birthday as well.

Sadly we lost my Mom in 1997, she was taken ill suddenly with an aortic aneurism and passed away within hours, but it's good that my youngest daughter was born on the same day, so I have a lot to reflect on today.

Unfortunately with my daughter living with her Mom in Florida and with me living in England I won't get to see her, unless they decide to power on the laptop and contact me via Skype, but I did talk to her last night before I went to bed, which is soon after she came home from school, and I sang her "Happy Birthday Tomorrow" - just changed the words a bit, adding "tomorrow" to the end of every line, which made her laugh.

She was very chatty on the phone which was nice, she is now at the age where she loves to talk, but I do hope I can see her on the webcam tonight.

It's funny, but most of our family birthdays are between July and October, especially on my Mom's side of the family. Better I think than having them around Christmas time, but it does make this time of year very busy with birthday cards etc.

Congratulations. Pretty daughter.

Re July-Oct birthdays- same here. Must have something to do with going to bed early as the nights draw in!

Your daughter is lovely! Happy Birthday to her. : ) I do hope you get to visit with her via Skype this evening. They grow up so quickly, don't they?

Thanks Jason. Could be, it certainly does get dark early in the winter, and chilly too.

Thank you. I do hope I get to see her too, and her older sister (just 14). They rarely come on Skype, even though my laptop has it open all the time, so I have to wait for them to call unfortunately. It's a case of "out of sight, out of mind" :(

Happy birthday to her. What a cute kid. I wish I could show y'all my kids' pictures too. Aint having children educational? haha

Congrats to her. She is a pretty looking girl. Time does fly by fast though. It was just like yesterday that my two boys were age 10. Now they are men. I miss those days when they were young.

Thanks Tina Marie. I think she is a real cutie too. When the photo was taken she was about to practice her Irish Dancing, something she really loves.

Thank you.

Thanks. I can't believe she is 10 today, time flies.

It definitely is an education, especially when they are having problems, but at the same time they do make you proud to be a parent.

I know. Hard to believe my son turned 34 last month, and my grandson is almost 2 1/2 years as well.

poddys wrote on September 17, 2014, 1:44 PM

I will do, thank you.

Thanks.

It's nice to have all of your birthdays before Christmas. I'm the same way. Except I have no children, just nieces and nephews and great nephews and nieces.
For some reason I have you that you were visiting England. Flap my forehead. I would love to see Stonehenge.

She's a lovely girl. I think she looks a lot like you. I hope you got to talk to her tonight.

It's complicated Larry...

I grew up in England and moved back here 5 years ago after 15 years in the USA. Their Mom and I split up, and fate decided to throw me a curve ball which ended up with my moving back to England.

I did, thanks Barb. She isn't having a party until the weekend, now hoping I get to talk with her and to see her on the webcam sometime.
