Echoes of the FIBA World Cup 2014

The dominance of NBA has been confirmed one more time at the recently concluded FIBA World Cup . Team USA without any of its superstars retained its crown. This year’s roster included all NBA players, but none of them has won an NBA ring, but they have just become World Champions.
Far behind the USA is Europe with Serbia, France and Lithuania and Spain occupying the next four places at the World Cup. Spain’s performance was disappointing to say the least.
The Americas and Africa and Asia Pacific were relegated to lower positions, and former World Champions like Brazil and Argentina showed their golden generation is gone.
Additionally, FIBA has decided they do not want to have their Basketball World Cup the same year as the FIFA Football World Cup , so FIBA has moved up their to 2019. Also they will increase the number of countries participating in the event from the current 24 to 32.
I can only say the rest of the world has five years to catch up with the USA and its mighty NBA based team.

I can't see any country competing with the USA- but then again didn't Russia beat them in the Olympics once?

Pffft, five years might be enough if we just stopped playing and waited :D

Well, if it's any consolation to folks who are not Team USA fans, just remember: Nothing, not even championship reigns, lasts forever.
