Happy Anniversary to Me! by Guiness the Cat

This is Guiness the Cat, and it is a fine day indeed!

Two years ago yesterday, I was diagnosed with feline diabetes. Today, I am healthy and happy, and witty as ever--not to mention quite cute. I try to stick to a high protein, low carb diet, and I get two insulin shots a day. My blood glucose control, according to my last checkup, is "Excellent", and everything else is going fine. Sometimes I even forget I'm 17!

It's been a great two years. Debbi and I have had a chance to educate people about diabetes in cats, and hopefully encourage other diabetic cats and their humans. I've become a professional cat blogger and made a lot of friends. The only downer is that being famous hasn't paid nearly as much as I thought it should.

Yesterday was a very busy day, so Debbi and I are celebrating today. I can't wait to see what she has planned.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat.

Guiness, happy anniversary!!! I, too, am diabetic, so I can relate to your joy of being healthy. I am trying to regain mine after a lapse in insurance coverage. And, you don't look a day over 3!!! (My Shady spread her nine lives over 23 years while Chloe is closing in on you at 15.)

You should have said earlier I would have sent you a card for your anniversary...

This is Guiness the Cat. I live in Debbi's house. We never do things on time here.

This is Guiness the Cat. Most of the time I don't feel a day over 3 ... as long as I don't get too adventurous jumping.

This is Guiness the Cat. Debbi is a good shot giver. I rarely feel a thing. I purr through shot time.

Congratulations, Guiness. Sarah and Garfield send meows.

You are truly an enduring pet going by what I have been reading about you. I believe you come for your injection on your own. That is great. I hope Preiti too did it. She likes here Vet as he is very kind to her but we need to hold her down a bit while she gets her annual shots.

Have a great day and may be you can go easy on your diet for one day. What say? emoticon

Hey, baby, er, I mean Your Cuteness. Mumble. Trying this again. Ummmm. Hello Guiness. This is Poof and I am not awake yet this morning. I used to have a catmate called Tangerine who frequently got stuck with one of those needles. Yuck. I am sure glad the FD didn't take away your wittiness.

Give Sarah and Garfield some purrs and meows from me. Sincerely, Guiness the Cat.

This is Guiness the Cat. I don't like the vet, as he stole three of my teeth and didn't give them back and I talked funny for awhile and had to go to speech therapy. I do like shot time, though. I'm always waiting for my treats.

The vet said my sugar control is excellent, and Debbi and I are trying to keep it that way.

Hello, Poof, it's nice to hear from you. I hope Tangerine didn't mind the shots too much. I don't mind them at all. Most of the time, I don't even feel them. Sincerely, your cute and witty friend, Guiness the Cat.

I know that animals can have many illnesses that humans get and I'm sorry to hear that you have diabetes. My husband found out he has that a few years ago too and I'm hoping that one of these days he'll begin realizing how much and what he eats has an impact on the illness and chose to change his habits. He has lost a bit of weight recently, so I can hope that he continues in the right direction.

This is Guiness the Cat. Changing my diet went a long way toward getting my blood sugar under control. I'm taking less than half the amount of insulin I was to begin with.

Guiness, the Fuzzy Trio say that all feline bloggers should become rich and famous.

This is Guiness the Cat. I totally agree. It should be a law.
